What happened to good ole USA knives? It seems like alot of major companies are being bought out and the products manufactured in some foreign country. Lets do our best to support the USA and get our products back!
Can you name some that have been bought out? I know they've been outsourcing work for a long time to Asian factories but I don't know of any off the top of my head that have closed their doors and moved to a foreign country or sold the company shares out to foreign countries.

Gerber and Kershaw are the only ones, pretty sure. A lot of American knife companies died out though.

This. What is it with people posting threads trying to rally everyone or rile them up about some subject, with only vague information? Can you name some that have been bought out? Maybe that's more of what I meant... I just mean that if you go into a store or talk to an average joe, he is usually carrying a made in china knife
You can still find plenty of American made knives. The problem is that an "average joe" doesn't carry knives anymore. What I mean by that is that it seemed like people used to always have a pocketknife, and saw the need for carrying one. Now people are more likely to use their keys or carry some piece of crap than invest money in something that is essentially an afterthought to them.
Why is that important when you've already compromised with everything else you will ever use?
Where was the computer you're using to type this made? The cell phone/smart phone you use? How about the clothes you wear or every single electronic appliance that has been made in the last 10+ years in your home? How about the parts to the car you drive?
All "made in China" . Your rah rah is a bit late.
That is really so very true. Have you seen the thread about the comments people get about having knives? Ridiculous. Everyone wants to own a gun but freaks out over a knife. Knives are tools, and even when people have to borrow your knife, they still treat it like a weapon and fail to see its value. Then if they find they need a knife, they end up choosing something poorly made overseas, which Gerber now falls into, because they have no experience. My uncle gave me a dull knife with a blunted tip when I was 5, and I learned within the next 5 years to respect that and any other knife, especially the very sharp ones. That used to be traditional in most families. "This is a knife. You cut things with it. Don't cut yourself. It will make life a lot easier day to day having this at hand."Yeah, cause most of the "men" today are pansies. lol

Well, SCHRADE got bought out to Taylor knives, and they're made in China now. Gerber makes some knives in china now too. I guess I should rephrase that. you are correct![]()
