USPS Stellar Delivery at times

I could be mistaken but while priority flat rate is the same, first class (or whatever they call it these days) isn't.

TL/DR: I like USPS, and CONUS doesn’t mean what many people think it does.

Believe they have both a flat rate and a priority flat rate, each with varied delivery times and services available.

Not to say I’m absolutely correct, and not to debate the various aspects or intricacies between them, my point of confusion here being that a flate rate box to any of the 50 states - including HI & AK, neither of which are part of the CONUS - or to any military ship or unit worldwide via APO/FPO is the same flat rate for whichever service is chosen. To me it makes a ‘CONUS only’ stipulation think that people just don’t understand what it actually means.

People can sell or ship however they like, it’s not my circus, not my monkeys, nor is it my ad, just one of those things that makes me scratch my head and wonder why it’s so frequently stated in ads. I’ll stop tilting at this particular windmill, just one of those thoughts that keeps popping into my head sometimes.

Amen !! We feel unloved up here guys !
Kidding aside the difference in both time enroute and cost is quite insignificant. Most everything comes in and out on a jet and gets here pretty fast.
I havent been on the forum for very long, and even less time actively involved in the for sale classifieds, but at this point have both bought and sold a few things. It really and truly is a bummer when you see that CONUS ONLY on something where if you really do want the knife time might not be on your side.
Maybe you could offer to pay the custom’s fees for AK 🤣

Or just send a PM asking why no CONUS and explain it to them and hope for the best…

Gary, unless I’m mistaken the cost is the same, for the flate rate boxes anyway.

Again, that’s what cracks me up about the CONUS only thing some people state. Same cost, a US state is a US state, and like I said, shipped to an APO in Japan for the same cost as to next door and it was there in a week or less, not sure what the hang up is about “no CONUS”

Not saying they’re perfect, but sure works for me.

The packages that I mail out are just regular shipping and not priority so it’s not the flat rate type
I seldom use priority flat rate unless it’s really heavy then it makes sense to do that
As priority is not a guarantee 3 day delivery so I don’t go the extra expense plus I like the boxes I use more than theirs

Tactical Pteradactyl shipped me a knife on April 30th via 1st class USPS insured mail, and it was out for delivery May 4th. However, it didn't arrive before 5PM closing time, and was rescheduled to be delivered the next business day (per the tracking online notes at 12:10AM that Sunday).

There was a wind storm that Sunday night that took out power to the post office (and Zoo, and thousands of homes) until Monday afternoon, but the package also wasn't delivered Tuesday either. On Wednesday I went to post office and left the tracking and recipient address for the Supervisor, with no call back about it. So, I filled a Missing Package report on Day #7 Friday May 10th. It still has not been found as of Friday May 24th.

However, I got a phone call on Wednesday May 22nd, saying they'd keep looking but that it was likely gone forever, and they'd send me a letter stating as much. Once I receive the letter I have to share that with the knife maker, who in a previous call about a week ago told me that the knife is not replaceable until next year, and to just give the post office more time to trace it.

So, I'm not very happy with USPS right now.

The loss of any package is never a good feeling, but in your case if you weighed in the number of packages that did arrive versus those that didn’t, the percentage would be very low.

Everyone ships in whatever manner works best for them, and not here to say one method is better than another. Different knives need different packaging and we all do what works best for ourselves, just saying that I don’t get CONUS only, but then again I guess I don’t need to. And since you have, and do, ship outside CONUS I hope you know I’m not asking you why people state that, just my nagging curiousity.

Pretty sure I’ve beaten that aspect of it to death, so gonna let this poor horse rest in peace…

Just responded to your saying about flat rate was all as I didn’t specify just how I had shipped

Maybe one reason why people avoid outside of conus, it’s not as easy to drive to that person if things go sideways 😇

No worries Gary, started out just to concur about USPS and I kinda threadjacked ya to go down the other path. As long as it get’s there it’s all good 🤗

One thing that I do appreciate about USPS is their delivery time is usually on time each day, I mean mail runs by a prescribed route that is pretty reliable so you know when that start stop drone of the USPS mail truck coming up the street is like clockwork.

Whereas UPS or FedEx or Amazon have no defined daily route that you can set your watch to, which makes sense as they never know just where things are going so it's a WIDE range of time, kinda like the Cable Guy appointments ;)
Take this morning for example, I have a UPS delivery that was an Overnight delivery, email said this morning to expect it between 9:15am to 1:30pm, ok that's not too bad. Then later on, after 9:30am I checked it's status it now says between 5:00pm to 8:30pm
Now that's quite a jump and a wider range which is really hard to schedule your day by as once it arrives I need to use what is in it to finish a project and get my package in the mail, but now it looks more like I won't ship until tomorrow, hopefully...

Oh, and the UPS hub is less than 2 miles away

Been cussing them (USPS) for several days now. Their website to print labels has been down. Suppose to be back yesterday in the zero dark am. But nooooooo......Shooting for Monday now it says. We've used all the major shippers at one time or another and USPS seems to have more trouble with this.

Print the usps labels through pirate ship?

Everything went fine until the last four on Monday. Then it crashed. Retried and got three of the four to work. Fourth one we ended up filling out the address at the PO!

How it was delivered. What'd they do drive over it?

Did the owner submit it to the post office yet?
And any harm done to the knife/handle?

I had one ‘friend’ text me a photo of a package that I sent that was crushed…as a joke but didn’t say it up front until he guessed that I had gasped long enough . Funny but not haha funny
He crushed the box after he removed the contents so nothing was harmed
My therapist says that I am going to be better in a few more months 😇
