We are getting a bit low on funds. We have a $513.77 balance and I'm expecting a $200 check from OP for the knife he bought that Buckman #10 donated to raise funds for VG. Based on VG's travels over the past several months to the store, etc., I've been paying between $200-300 a month to the Angels. Luckily we had generous folks donating and we raised significantly more than we anticipated that we needed. It's a good thing that we did get that extra money, because it definitely has been put to use over the past 6 months or so.

I think it is up to the folks here need to decide if they want to raise more money to help the Vampire Gerbil. It would all go to Visiting Angels, unless there was a small purchase that was needed.

I agreed to handle the finances and pay the bills, plus I check in with Dave once in a while and also with his mom. Dave absolutely HATES my nagging. Nagging consists of asking if he bought food, changed the sheets on his bed, washed his clothes, etc. Major nagging items.

So you all need to discuss any fund raising efforts. I'm already a NAG.

It sometimes happens to Homeless people sleeping outdoors. Especially here in NYC. Not as common as it once was, but yeah; there are people out there who are that evil. Mostly done by male teens.

Here's hoping VG makes a speedy recovery.
 
I wish I could say this was unbelievable. That someone (ones?) could drop so low they enjoy causing this sort of suffering...:mad:

the majority of my knives are not with me (I've moved) but when I get back to MA or can get my brother to send me a few I'll sell them off on here for some funds for VG.

I don't know Dave either personally or from the forums, but f*** he can't catch a break. I'll let you know when I get some dough together and you can tell me where to send the check, Judy.

That's really nice of you. It has been unbelievable what the folks here on BF have done to help out VG. And it continues.

This is a classic example of "when bad things happen to good people." I think Dave is taking on more than his share of bad things these past year. It is time for his luck to change and for good things to happen for him.
 
I'll let you know when I get up to MA or get my brother to send me a few, mostly production, most lightly used, but I hardly use them, esp. when they are 500 miles away ;)

like I said, when I post them for sale here or on ebay, whichever will probably move them fastest, I'll let you know, and get an address to send $$$ or I can have the buyers send the money orders to Dave C/O you to get it spendable more quickly.

good luck to Dave, I'll say the novena to St. Jude, the patron saint of hopless cases and lost causes. I'm not a very religious person, but I believe in God and that everything happens for a reason.

I hope they find the people that set Dave on fire and justice is served.

You've done a lot of great things for Dave and its things like this that really make you appreciate the people here.

Reading what you said about St. Jude makes me chuckle. I'm certainly no Saint - never have been, never will be. But one of the nicknames my family calls me is "Jude." Common for Judy's, I suppose. How fitting that a "Jude" should be helping Dave.

And I'll be honest with you - I've never met a more hopeless case or lost cause, than Dave. But Dave will NEVER be lost nor hopeless as long as he has us. Because we don't give up on him. We won't give up on him. Dave will survive because we give him hope.

I'm gonna shut up now.
 
I finally was able to get Dave on the phone. He sounds great. Well, he sounded great for the 8.5 seconds I talked to him. He said, "I just got my bandages changed and it hurts like hell and I was just going out to smoke a cigarette." Geez, I can take a subtle hint. "Thanks for calling, Judy."

A$$hole. :D :D

He asked me to call back in an hour. Okay. FINE.:mad: Doesn't he know its all about ME? ME? ME? Sheesh. :D

Jeff, I think we'll start a new thread for donations and PhilL will probably fix us up with a new link. I'll get with Code 3 about a new thread and making it a sticky and stuff.

I am sorta waiting to hear back from the Director of Visiting Angels before I start a new thread. I have absolutely no idea what Dave's condition will be like when he gets out of the hospital. I guess it is painful for him to walk. I have emailed the Director and asked him if he can use his magical powers to find out some stuff. I believe Dave signed some basic authorization forms with the Visiting Angels, but I don't remember what they are and obviously I don't have copies.

The HIPPA laws would probably kick in here. While Albert, the Director of Visiting Angels, knows that I have signed to be responsible for payments to them, I don't believe that under HIPPA they can tell me anything. So we'll just have to play it out, I guess.

Previously, we had it figured out how much it would cost per month to get Dave to the store twice. And that is what we based the donations on - monthly cost X 12 and that was the donation plus PP fees. Well, plus the minimum number of "donatees" it would take to cover the year.

And I guess, depending on what VG needs, we need to discuss what the VGGA's want to do and help fund with the Visiting Angels. That is a decision that needs to be made by the Vampire Gerbil Guardian Angels. I am one of the VGGA's, but I also just handle the $$$$.

It would REALLY help ME if maybe another VGGA stepped up and started a thread to discuss helping out Dave. Or, if the VGGA's want, I can start the thread. I just don't want the BF members to think that I am always just asking for money for VG/Dave.

Can someone help me out with this? What do we want to do?

Hey everybody!

Code 3 has started a new thread in W&C titled, "The best of Vampire Gerbil: please post your thoughts and links."

It will sort of be our version of the Best of Saturday Night Live, except we have the Vampire Gerbil!!! It will be a blast to read, and for those BF members who weren't around when VG was ruling W&C, it will be a great way to get acquainted with a very perverted rodent with a cape.
