Vantage Avid

I really like the vantage.
Problem is I have to buy them online, no chance to handle/inspect them
Even so in Europe they cost at the very least 3 times as much.
So I'm better of buying one outside Europe and paying little extra shipping costs.
But if I get a bad one I'm screwed.
I hope Buck will announce when they have fixed the problems (tiny nylon washers, pivot screws, travelling liner) because otherwise it would be a shame of this nice design.
If the word is out, I only need to wait until most of the old stock is sold.

If I could return a default knife without any loss I wouldn't have a problem with it.
But if I think it through, the knife can be perfect at first but because of the tiny washers develop problems during use later on.
This knife deserves better.

I got a vantage pro today production run 8-17-09 (day before ma b-day)
When I got it I switched the pocket clip over to my surprise one of the bottom screws head was broken. Yet, the other screw is holding like a bank vault? kinda weird the screws are of different quality. I don't have the time to send it back to Buck, and don't have to tools to remove the current broken screw. The weird thing is the other screw is abnormally strong and holds it extremely well.

The knife lock is perfect and blade is center I changed the pivot screw a little since it was stiff earlier, and it open and locks perfectly the knife looks BEAUTIFUL with the G-10.

Overall a 8-10 highly recommended knife lots of value packed into it. Came shaving sharp.

Just an update on the liner spacing issue. I got a Select today with the blue handle . I thought I'd be safe ordering it through Amazon due to their high turnover. It came with the box dated 8/23/10. Fit on the blade is terrible with it wedged against the side when closed and lots of side to side play when open. The liner lock barely contacts well enough to work. Looks like Kershaw has nothing to fear from low cost American folders here.
