Vantage "Pro" s30v!

The blade is hollow ground and is .120" thick (close to 1/8"). The Vantage select, avid, and pro will be in stores soon. The Paradigm will be the one available in August.

I keep looking at that picture of the Vantage Pro. The contoured G10 handles just jump at me...so I canceled my order for the two Avids:eek:

And reordered:
Vantage Pro
Vantage Avid
Large Bucklight Max

Little Brother is still going to get the Avid since he needs a more tame knife. I gave him a Kalinga folder and he's carried everyday since. Problem is it scares the crap out of his customers/patients.

I'm excited about this new model year.

Suggested retail for the Vantage Pro level (model #347) is $75. The avid level steel is 13C26. When we showed these products to buyers the coolest thing was that they kept playing with them, even as we moved on to talk about other products...that was what we were hoping for...and yes the blades are hollow ground

I might just have to get one of those Vantage Pro folders and EDC it in rotation with my Mayo TNT.

Which has the longest blade of the up grade steel?DM

Mike,

I must say, the blade shape of the Vantage looks a lot like the TNT with the oval thumb hole. The Vantage should make a great EDC knife. And being a lefty I also noticed the reversible pocket clip

Sweet! I was going to try and find a Buck Mayo Northside but now i think i'll wait and get a Vantage!
Can you tighten the pivot on the Vantage?
I ask because i'm in Canada and if i buy one from the states i can get the seller to tighten the pivot for me so it is less "flickable".
These type knives are legal in Canada but some Canadian forumites have had problems with the idiots at Canada customs.
The tighter the lockup the less chance of problems with customs.
:D
Hmmm....
Does anyone here know any Canadian dealers who carry the complete Buck line?

Yes the pivot can be tightened, in fact the entire knife is screw assembly so if you want it can be sent to you in pieces. :D

Thanks for the info!

And i Just found a Canadian seller (Lebaron)!
I'm gonna have to buy one now!
:D

I'll await an in-hand review before I order one - probably that S30V. I got burned on that 850 Bravo I bought for my son last fall. It really should not have been released as it was - and I am still awaiting the 'improvements'. It sat here over Christmas - I got my older son another gift. I finally gave it to him a week back for his birthday. "Neat knife... kind of sloppy assembly for a Buck, isn't it?", he said. I had no answer. Recall, if you read my earlier posts, the dealer sent me a second one - and I had just returned a BCCI anniversary BG-42/G10/Micarta 110 because of sloppy assembly and poorly fitted scales (A HS shop class would have rejected it!). I think I spent enough postage returning defective big buck Bucks last fall.

I just hope Buck has this new line thought through a bit better - and it comes out nicer from the assembly. I don't expect a Sebenza, but a dollar store knife shouldn't be an upgrade, either. Sorry for the rant - but I feel abandoned. Oddly, a 'factory second/blemish' Kershaw JYDII CB (D2), labelled with 'X X X X', which I bought at Christmas was as perfect, fit and finish wise, as a boxed unit. I hope the Vantage Pro is 'right' - as delivered - I want one - and I don't want to abandon Buck knives.

Stainz I'll send you the postage if you'll stop talking about it. I've read that same complaint what seems like a dozen times. Come on, let it go...it's just $10 or $20. That said Limited Editions shouldn't have had the problem your G10 had. Mine was a little stiff too so I feel your aggrevation.
