Have you tried contacting the postal inspector? Bad form to ship any knife in a envelope. I use a padded envelope, inside a box, with about half a roll of packing tape.

With maybe (emphasis on "maybe") the exception of the very smallest & lightest CHEAP knves (and why even then? The Priority boxes are free too!)... Why would ANYONE ship any knife in an envelope, especially w/o insurance??????????

I'm no lawyer, but I do feel that you deserve a full refund. Owning several Boss Streets myself, I can testify that a USPS Priority envelope is barely able to hold that weight in paper, let alone a smaller denser object sliding around and slamming back & forth during transit.

Sorry to hear this, man... How was payment made?

I did paypal and i tryed to dispute it but since it was not bought on ebay they said there is nothing paypal can do? i just contacted my local post office inspector and was told since it was not insured there was not much they can do. man ive never had to deal with this before:mad::thumbdn: pisses me off

i've received knives in envelopes, myself. i've ordered a few balisongs from one or two online dealers, and about half of them were shipped in envelopes. they were the thick, bubble wrap lined kind, though, and were insured.

i have to say, though, that i've never seen a Busse that i thought could be contained, let alone shipped, in an envelope. you should have asked for insurance when you agreed to buy the knife. i think the seller should refund your money, but it's buyer beware, too.

He should refund you every single cent, there is no excuse what so ever for mailing a Busse in that envelope.

And safe insured deliver is the sellers responsibility, not the buyers.

yea i dont get where he is comeing from with refunding only half? huh?!

What?? ...Did you fie a dispute for Item(s) Not Received through PP (USPS is off the hook thanks to no insurance purchased)? This coverage may not be a guarantee of getting your dough back, but it's worth a shot as long as you didn't pay using the personal payment option to avoid fees.

13.5 PayPal Buyer Complaint Policy.

a.PayPal Buyer Complaint Policy. The Buyer Complaint Policy is PayPal’s process to help you resolve a problem directly with the Seller through the PayPal Resolution Center for purchases that are not eligible for PayPal Buyer Protection.
The PayPal Buyer Complaint Policy is similar to PayPal Buyer Protection in that it enables buyers to file Disputes for Items Not Received (INR), or for items that are Significantly Not as Described (SNAD). By filing a Dispute, you can communicate with the Seller and attempt to resolve the problem. If you are unable to resolve the problem, you may escalate an Item Not Received (INR) Dispute to a Claim – but you may not escalate a Significantly Not as Described Dispute to a Claim. You may not file a dispute for a Personal Payment.

Even though you may escalate an Item Not Received Dispute to a Claim, you are not guaranteed recovery. If the Claim is decided in your favor, your recovery is limited to the amounts that PayPal can recover from the Seller’s Account.

b.Buyer Complaint Process. Similar to PayPal Buyer Protection, you must file a Dispute in the PayPal Resolution Center within 45 days of the date you sent the payment. Once you have done so, you should attempt to resolve the Dispute directly with the Seller.

If you are unable to resolve the Dispute directly with the Seller then you may escalate the Dispute to a Claim within 20 days of the date you filed the Dispute. PayPal will make a final decision for some - but not all - Claims. You should not escalate a Dispute for Significantly Not as Described (SNAD) to a Claim because PayPal will not make a decision on a SNAD Claim under the PayPal Buyer Complaint Policy.

If PayPal makes a final decision in your favor, we will collect any available funds in the Seller’s PayPal balance at that time. However, recovery is not guaranteed and is limited only to the amounts that PayPal can recover from the Seller’s Account. Any amounts collected from the Seller will be placed in your Account.

yes i filed a dispute but it was closed like a minute later then i call paypal on the phone and talked with a person in the dispute department and was told since i did not buy on ebay there was nothing they can do?

Looks like the seller tried to skimp out on shipping to make a few extra bucks. I understand that sometimes you send out knives and something happens to them in transit, but as a seller, it's his responsibility to try to get it to you in the best possible condition as possible. It takes less than common sense to see that you shouldn't be shipping a knife, let alone a Busse, in an envelope designed for shipping documents.

Ivan, no half refunds here. I think you deserve every cent back.

Try calling them to ask about opening a dispute under the Buyer Complaint Policy, not the Buyer Protection Policy. The BCP is supposed to cover non eBay purchases through PP. If they say no, ask why...if their answer sounds like BS, ask for their supervisor and try again. Stay calm (even if you want to rip their heads off!).

Here's the link to the PP User Agreement I pulled this from in my last post.

:eek::eek::eek: :mad: Unreal... Sorry, man.

I believe that he should still refund your $$$ and I hope you get satisfaction.

I've once had a sebenza shipped to me from Canada in a plain envelope w/ regular 1st class service that thru some miracle arrived intact. I wasn't too pleased (especially, since I fedex'd my end of the trade to him!)

Was your paypal transaction funded thru a credit card? If so, I would definitely raise a claim directly with your CC.

I feel it is the seller's obligation to see that the buyer gets what he paid for or his money refunded. It seems irresponsible that anyone would ship that knife in an envelope uninsured. Hopefully Verpus77 will man up and make things right.

A Full Refund is called for because of improper / inadequate packing- which is the Sellers Responsibility.

It would seem dangerous to ship a fixed bladed knife in a mere envelope like that.

I believe Insurance is a mute point because it doesn’t cover something that wasn’t properly packed.
