It's soooooo great! It's all solid and smooth and chamfered and comfortable and the blade is gorgeous and the lines and the clip and the swedge and the jimping and the spine is curved and and and...

So yeah...really digging it. I think the half stop is useful for allowing you to pause, reposition your fingers above the blade and continue closing it safely, but that's just my opinion after an hour of toying with it.

I don't know what I'd do if they changed it to not have the half stop, so use to opening and closing it with that, it's second nature, and I agree, love this knife, very ideal at least to me!

I just can't help thinking about the possibility of it being a flipper if the half stop were removed, the same way the Panchenko Bean works as a ball detent flipper. I wonder if there's any way to take the knife apart and actually convert it into a flipper.

Weld/bondo the half-stop holes, sand, profit. :D

Well look here Gary, we're already on a date so clearly it's true love! :D

Awwwwwwwwww yeaaaaaaah.

Y'all are making me reconsider breaking up with Ms. Dan2. (Dantoo?)

Glad to see they're still making peeps happy, though. It's a great knife. I was and still am impressed with the finish quality on the knife. Going the extra mile to chamfer all the edges, the spine, and, well, everything is just downright impressive given the price they sell for. If Viper knives ever makes a locking front-flipper version, I'll be all over it.

You guys are making me miss mine. I'm bladeless in NYC right now and feel naked without a knife.

On a side note, although this being a front flipper would be cool, I also fall into the "fan of the half stop" crew.

Bladeless in Seattle...I mean, NYC. Such a tragic story.

And yeah Jed, the level of finish is insane considering the $130 I paid...I just rotate it in my hand happily like a totem. But then, with so many makers and so much competition, we all win!

Just like the napkin says, 'You make the Call' ;) nice, glad it fits you well and you are liking it, this knife is similar to a few others,

ZT0770 cf
Insingo

If someone has all three, that'd be an interesting comparison pic I think! I have the ZT and may get a photo of the two of them.
G2

Edited to add, for those having trouble opening the knife, one thing I do is hook my fingers around the pocket clip for added stability and on the tang, I push more FORWARD to get it started to go out of the handle, that may help some I hope...

ask and you shall receive

yes I still dig the Viper...so glad I was able to snag one.

Very nice! it sure is a cutter for sure! I find the Viper to have a thinner edge at the shoulder of the edge bevel when compared to the ZT.

yes. And in hand, the ZT almost feels too thin when compared to the Viper.

The Viper scales have a nice oval shape, which comfortably contours your hand.

Ergonomically the Viper wins...

Yeah, I just hold it and rotate it a lot because it's so smooth and solid. Like a carbon fiber skipping stone!*

*Do not attempt to skip Viper Dan across bodies of water.

While it didn't need it much, I was sharpening up my opinel #10 and decided to just touch up my ''Danaconda" on my new King combo water stone, sweet and sharp ;)
G2

Yep I'm limited on funds so I just can't keep them all :(

My wife is going to hate you guys... I must have one. 1 week countdown until next paycheck.

Hey, they are a relatively cheap habit, and so beautiful! Sad to see you go, Gary, but I know it will be loved, and your replacement wasn't half bad either. I tore down a large pile of boxes with mine today, first "hard" use of the knife and it performed spectacularly well. I'm going to take it with me down to Mexico this week. Probably won't need it for anything, but I'll be deep in the jungle for a couple of days, and you never know.

Aidansdaddy17, love that green G-10! I almost bought one of those today, just on a whim, but with the wharncliffe blade.
