GRRRRR HURRY UP AND GET THEM BACK IN STOCK LAMNIA

Out of curiosity: does anyone know where one might be able to get a Dan 2 in CF other than Lamnia? I, uh...ask on behalf of a friend...

Hi guys. These are great looking knives. How is it they are slipjoints? They look like friction folders.

They have a detent ball on each side of the blade, with a detent hole set for the half stop, if that makes sense. It's more like a front flipper with an over active tension bar.

Here's a couple images of the Dan 2 taken tonight;

As you can see, I opted not to run the para cord through the clip's hole, but instead have the clip help to prevent the cord from swinging around into the path of the blade, this allows you can still have a lanyard and the deep carry pocket clip still works well too :)

Ah, clever, Gary. I've never been quite content with how my lanyard sits through the clip, so maybe I'll try this.

Thanks for the reply. So it has a liner spring with detents, instead of a back spring with a lumpy tang?

I live in Australia, where we can't import knives that open with a wrist/arm flick. Here is a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NthM0-j76AU&feature=player_embedded
I wonder if any owner would be kind enough to see if their DAN will open in this manner?

It will NOT open in that manner, as the detent is quite strong and once clear of the detent there is pressure so it isn't a free opening like that, it's smooth but does require you to manually move the blade.

Right, you may find it easier to initially pull it through the clip's hole and then feed it back through, as it's a tight turn if you try to grab it as it comes through the hole and try to bend and pull it from there. The two diamond knots work great, the first I grip with my pinky to help draw the knife out and the last to end the para cord loop.

Hey guys can I join? I just ordered a Burgundy Dan 2 yesterday. Can't wait for its arrival, I'm usually not a big slip joint guy but I'll be darn if the Dan isn't pretty!

Absolutely! The more, the merrier! Always nice to see someone else experience the Viper Dan love. Post pics as soon as you have it.

No personal pictures of the Dan in Silver Twill/G-10? I hope it looks better than the pictures I've seen at some online dealers.

I'm definitely a Dan 2 Wharnie guy!

I'll probably settle on the CF since Viper has done such a fine job of it on my Viper Maga and Odino.

Thanks to Huck here, I too will soon be joining the hottest team on the BF scene with my own D2CF! In preparation for this great moment, I'll be suggesting some names for us over the next few days. Here's the first group:

  • DANglers
  • DANihilators
  • DANtagonists
  • DANticip...

Nice selection of names there, my wife just hates that series of movies, but I think they are a guilty pleasure myself, first two only, the rest...well you REALLY have to be a fan to sit through them I think! :)

Did you get that Burgundy Micarta yet?

Burgundy is enroute, estimated to arrive on Friday :) I did let Friar know that if he had a change of heart, this one can slide on back to him, with a nice lanyard too, he's thinking about it, but I know he is purposed in his mind to trim back to only a couple knives so he's on a mission!

you are a good man.

I'm playing with mine as I type this message. I love this knife!

Don't blame ya a bit, I'm pretty happy to have bumped into this knife, for me it seems about as good as it gets.

If there was even one small nit pick with it for me, it would be that VERY small area just before the edge starts, I wish it could have been not there, up under the handle, but the way it's made, everything has a reason, the angled area of the handle matches the plunge line of the blade grind, the blade has to fit up to the pin and so on and so forth, I will put up with that slight bit of notch, but even that has caught on some plastic as I was cutting some heavy plastic from one of our machines, while you try to be careful it's hard not to have it catch, but, as I say it is a very small notch so it isn't a great problem for me ;)
