I polished up the blade on one of my Enduras a little more today. I was making headway getting the scratches off the flat part of the blade with a 1000 grit Arkansas stone from my KME. My cat knocked that stone on the floor and of course it broke. So I moved on to 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000 grit sandpaper then wiped it off with flitz. The middle of the blade still needs work but the edges don’t look too bad. This has to be easier than I’m making it out to be. Dunno if I need to go back to 1000 grit or just polish the flats on a fine or uf stone.

One upside to doing all this work is that it’s loosened up the action a little bit. This knife was super stiff but I can spydie flick it open now. Lockup is great, just needed some breaking in. Once I get the polish right, I might try a little bit of vinegar or something to get the core to stand out a little more.

Just purchased an Endura VTOKU2 from an online store for an extremely good price .
I've not really had much Endura experience ( apart from a VG10 standard ) , but I really want to see what this steel will do .

After getting tired of the bu weekly bar keepers friend rub downs it needed I decided to Tuf cloth the choke blade... since the grey patina is well established I hope just to prevent the red spotting.

Mine is supposed to arrive toady via USPS. Seeing the patina pix, I realize that it’s not my cup of tea. What can I do to prevent a patina on the Toku2?

I'm excited on having a vtoku patina. Trying to decide if I let it form naturally or force it with either the mustard method or vinegar which will be more uniform.

Natural, IMO. If you use it enough it will become uniform.

Well, I just unboxed mine about 10 minutes ago. Everything looks darn near perfect: Centering great, lockup tight, no play in any direction, all screws tight. I've already cut myself with it so that's over with too LOL!! This knife is extremely sharp. The cladding is even on both sides of the blade too. I really like the unpainted pocket clip. I wish my other Endura had that.
