just got back from mexico...at least from what i can remember i think i was in mexico. Um...yea...the knives all broke like ray said...so...yea...
Going to take a couple days to get the excel screen shots into jpeg, get the pics sorted out and with the correct scores, and add the specs that have been coming in via email. I could probably get it done quicker if i stop drinking for a few minutes, so you know that aint gonna happen.
I do want to give a heads up that the three primary categories are 1) knife, 2) sheath, & 3) knife & sheath system (worn). Interestingly, and you'd know this if you could see the scores that i see (but you can't so ha ha), the performance of the knife is not always in alignment with performance of the sheath or the knife and sheath system. Also, under the knife category there are several sub-categories, so you'll be able to identify the knife that performs best for your intended purpose.
You know what makes me sad though??? When i come home from work there are no awesome neck knives waiting for me in the mail.
here's an example of a blank score sheet so you can see the categories. There was one score sheet for each knife, and the "averaged scores" category is the average of our four scores. In the knife performance category we started testing from the top and worked our way down...soft stuff first then moving to more challenging materials. The "edge retention - paper" sub category means that after all the other cutting tests were complete, we sliced up some standard printer paper to see how well the edge was holding up. It was surprising how long it took to run this test. The four of us sat around the same table, at the same time, and hammered it all out.
