Yeah, its not quite new years, so i have a little time to waffle.
I fully intend to complete the resolution of carrying ONE knife until May 1st

but does it HAVE to be my sodbuster?

Choice A - Case Sodbuster jr in CV

Choice B - Case Texas Jack "aka my precious" also in CV

Choice C - Case trapper with bone scales and also in CV

These are 3 (well 6) current pictures of the knives as of today. Its already dark before i got home from work so excuse the interior lighting, kinda fades the pics out a little. Anyways, i tried to make this a poll, but i dont seem to be able to (or i missed something). But yeah, all opinions are valued and will be considered.

On one hand the soddie makes sense in that i can open it with one hand while wearing gloves, not to be underestimated in the winter when you work in a warehouse with no heat :P But then again the texas jack has been my precious since day one, somehow along the way i became afraid of using her and doing something to cause her to be less than perfect (Oh the nightmares of dropping my precious onto a concrete floor keeps me up at night). The trapper is a bit of an odd duck. much bigger than my normal carry, but for someone who wants to get more active in the outdoor scene (camping, teaching some wilderness skills to the niece and nephew) it makes a great all purpose knife that is adept at woodsy and urban activities.

Anyways, my brain is all over the place, hence i thought i would post it here for ya'll to weigh in!

I would choose the Sodbuster Jr. in CV only because I haven't owned one, and because I prefer single bladed traditional folding knives. I would suggest looking at the new and limited GEC green micarta Bullnose knives that can be found at www.collectorknives.net

It's like the Sodbuster Jr. but a little bit beefier. If your not in the market for a new knife, then definitely go with the Sodbuster Jr.

Go eat here:

Then decide! :D

My vote is for the one you called "my precious"......

I did change my orig vote for the Soddie to the TJ...any of your listed knives would be a good choice but you seem to really love the Texas Jack and you will need that admiration to stick with your vow! IMO.

Out of those, I would go with the Texas Jack. Good luck! I tried limiting myself a while back in another challenge here but didn't last.

I'd go with the trapper, I think the length and 2 blades would find more tasks, but really go with whichever speaks to you the most! Good Luck!!

This is a no-brainer... You KNOW it's gotta be the Texas Jack. You'll grow EVEN CLOSER to it thru this coming experience. It's a great knife and will serve you well.

Just curious why your 85 is not an option?

lol, i keep adding more and more knives to the list
its not that its not an option per say. i was just trying to limit myself to something reasonable.
no reason why it couldnt be added into the mix

I hear ya. Was just curious if you had a technical reason why :). That would be my choice but im too biased these days. I would take two blades over one but that also is based on my own preconceived notions.

I vote Small Texas Jack, since you're asking. Sod Buster may be better for you, only you would know that.

If I were making this decision for myself, I would go with the GEC 85, because the two different sized blades would be the most versatile. But of course, you have to go with what speaks to you. If I were betting on your final decision, I predict you'll go with the texas jack, because it's your 'precious'.

If it were me, with my own knife preferences with YOUR above choices, I would go with the Texas Jack. The semi-Wharncliffe Pen blade is just too useful to overlook. My second choice would be the GEC 85. The blades are so dissimilar that it would cover many bases.

If I were taking your resolution based on my OWN knives, it would be with a single-blade GEC #15 Boys Knife (Clip blade) or the single-blade GEC #55 Hounds Tooth. I'm coming to understand that my own ideal is a single blade in a 3.5" package.

Go with the Trapper. Great pattern and sounds like it just might get you out into the great outdoors.

Well, i like ALL of the choices, so dont worry there
but it looks like the texas jack is off to an early lead...
