  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Wal Mart tins!!

The scales also appear to be standard... are they?

i think the scales are rosewood, the grain looks the same on the other 4 i got, but the one in the picture has some nice light and dark variations, but who knows i'm no expert on rosewood.

I have been dealing with Walmart trying to see if they are around locally...could someone PLEASE post the UPC Code from the package as Walmart can tell me anything from their own code ????

Mine has along the bottom of the bar code 0 33753 10090 1

And on the package, Model# VPAK110WM-SP2

I got one Walmart that said they have 50 of them in stock BUT they don't know where in the stock room they are ?!?!?!?!? Does it get any better than that??? The manager took my number and said he would call when they find them...that means I will be calling everyday I guess......

So there are so far 2 different tang stamps.....Will one be slightly more collectable ???? Would one be considered a variation ? what exatly should we look for?

I finally found some in TN today :-)

Still don't see me buying the 3 pack, I'm too anti china now to do that.

However, the 110 did look nice! I like the new blade markings real well. Would probably hit the blade with some Scotch pad though to give it a dull finish. I'll get one before the season is done if not more!

Now, will have to keep and eye out for the "other" date stamped blades. I'm sure evil-bay will have some posted soon......

All of the 110s (five or six in total) and all of the 3-pack slip joints (15-20 in total)at my local Wal Mart had the date stamp on them. After reading this thread in its entirety, it now seems that the knives, at least the 110s, are not supposed to have the date stamp. Is that correct? If so, are the ones with the date stamp ever going to be worth much more than $30? I am not a knife collector and I plan on using the one I bought today, but if they are going to be worth considerably more in the future, I may go back and buy a few more. Thanks.

The "worth more in the future" thing is hard to gauge... i asked the same question with the 112 anniversary knives in the tin. You may have to hold it 30 or 40 years - lol. So, I bought 2 tins. One is still in the original wrap, the other is a user. Wearing it right now as a matter of fact.

Heck, if you just want a 110 user, $26 will get you one at WM. ;)

Supply and demand....

Supply: It depends on how many of each (date stamp vs unique stamp) were produced. The more rare, the more potential to increase in value.

Demand: This thread with 134 posts so far is evidence to the huge amount of interest in the WW tins!

A review of recently closed auctions on the big evil E shows that the 2006 tins are going for around $45 plus shipping. Retail on these just a year ago was $25. I didn't see any of the 2005 tins that sold recently.

Hey all. I came down to Decatur, Illinois yesterday to visit my mom. I stopped in the Bloomington WW and didn't see any tins. Then I stopped in the Decatur WW and started back towards the sporting department. About half way back to it, a display case in the middle of a major isle caught my eye and, lo and behold, it was a case full of tins - both 110's and the three packs! Now I'm starting to wonder if the Bloomington WW had them and I just missed the display case. Anyways, I can now see how a person could call the sporting dept and have them look around their shelves and give a negative response. Oh, and no date stamps on the couple that I looked at.

Only question now is, how many do I buy? My wife is joining me down here today so I have to start working on my presentation (Honey, you'll never beleive ...). Wish me luck!

IMHO
Joe, and through Him Buck, has noted that any thing out'a the orandary
gets the attention of us here on the froum...!!!!
Joe has admitted to the 2003 tang stamp as a "humm letts see what this looks like"
then putting it out in wally boxes and then watching to see if we catch it and our response ..
Buck has cought on that some of us are so detail concerned that;;;;
they may have started putting things out there like this

I collect old and new Hot Wheels from Mattel besides Buck knives and Mattel does the same thing with there little cars... They will make a lets say 57 Chevy with chrome wheels... Then I'll go back to Wal-Mart in a day or two and find the same 57 Chevy with different wheels... Then I would tell a few friends about the car I found and then I would post a picture of it on the Hot wheels site and then they would or we would all go crazy trying to find one or more... The guys or the Suits at Mattel love it... Some of these cars become really Valuable and other don't... I guess it's like Baseball cards and coins... We that collect these things always want anything different... Well I do anyway ! ! !
