Wal Mart tins!!

Walmart in North Canton, Ohio has the tins out. A rather large amount of them, too. I'd guess maybe 30 of each. $30.00.

I picked up the three-pack of slipjoints, and plan on going back in the middle of next week to pick up the 110 and perhaps a 2nd of each.

well, my wally world here in florida finally put up a display of about 2 dozen tins. so for about 5 bucks more than the std "plastic pac" i get a shiny blade which i don't like and a chinese tin box which i don't need or want. humm, i think i'll wait 'till they reduce them after the holidays. eleven bucks sounds like a better deal. :o

i dont even care for stainless steel but i love Buck's! and surely you recognize that mirror polishing and American labor are worth more than the whole package.

I went to a new, 'Grand Opening' today, W-W 'Super Center', yesterday afternoon. Same crap as my <1mi away older one. Still no tins - but, all knives are clam shell (blister-packed) AND locked im a vertical display - like the ammo. No tins. Three employees chatted incessantly at the sporting register across the aisle - never asked me, or any of the other shoppers if they needed help.

The kicker - while perusing the flashlights on the back wall across from a display endcap, a gang-banger who had followed me from aisle to aisle - and his pal, whom my wife had seen an aisle over following me as well, were about to corner me out of view of the nearest visible survelence camera. She hollered - asking me about some product - just to get my attention - from 50-60 ft away. They turned, taking their hands out of their pockets - and scattered into the store. She had worried when she saw the two of them, not looking at anything but me, seemingl closing in from each side of the perpendicular aisle. I took my right hand off the grip of my S&W 642 in my front pocket, gathered my wife, and left, no longer interested in Buck knives there. Helluva note, isn't it? And... this was once the site of 'Eastwood Mall', one of the first indoor malls in the country, back in the early 60's - unique in it's being heated & cooled by an underground river. Hooray for my concealed pistol license.

Glad to hear that had a happy ending -- you have a smart wife. And, a couple of lucky punks. Don't leave home with out it... completely agree. :D

Stainz,
Yes, add my congrats to the proper outcome of what could have been a sticky situation. Be thankful you have your permit and that you have a wife who is as atuned to her surroundings as we all need to be. I used your letter as an example and shared it with my wife, who is really very good at such stuff any way, but I just wanted her to know that it's not just me being paranoid. These things really do happen. Thanks, Jack

OBTW, since we have talk about knives, too, if I had been in your situation, my handgun of choice is a Springfield 1911A1, and yes, I have a permit to carry, a BUCK/CABELA'S AG 110 on the other hip, a Buck Rush in one front pocket and a Buck 301 in another.

I live in what was Chalkville - now we are part of Clay - and a short trek up through Grayson Valley will land you in Wally World's parking lot - then I59's #141 exit. The W-W is actually in Trussville, and usually has a decent selection of Bucks. Catty-cornered from them was the site of my favorite Mex restaurant - until last month - they closed! You can, of course, cross the road to the K-Mart - they have the 110 & 119 blister-packed - at ~$5 over W-W's price and locked on pegs in a display (Like that new W-W - but absolutely no one around to unlock it!).

A favorite old haunt of mine is still on 1st Ave North in Roebuck - across from the golf course - the old Plott-Campbell's Drug & Hardware store - now just hardware. They still have a real Buck display case atop their larger knife display - complete with a 120 - at $95, too. The only Krispy Kreme is at the end of the strip there, too. No other Buck sources near here - save the Trussville 'Academy' - and they are limited.

Where are you?

334dave...congrats...

How's the build quality on it? Is it closer to a normal 110 or a custom 110? Are the scales matched?

Oh yeah, one more question.

What kind of sheath does it come with and do you like it?

When you say matched, I think the answer on mine is yes, if that means color mostly. That said, it is only one knife. As far as the build quality, mine is perfect.

I have to find one,I have been searching the three local walmarts for a couple of weeks but no luck in Indiana so far.congratulations to thoes who have found them.

Is the color difference this year more than in pastyears?? At my local store it was like 2 different kinds of wood.....Pink to black...Glad to see quality is up to the usual Buck standards!

Well, I had to laugh the other day - to be honest, I hadn't taken much interest in the holiday tins myself. However, I thought of you guys when I was at the Wal-Mart in Post Falls the other day, and I checked to see if they had the holiday tins......

....and they did NOT. Go figure - five miles from the Buck plant and not a holiday tin in sight!! They had some Winchester holiday packs out, so I wonder if the Bucks were just sold out.... Oh well!

By the way, before you ask any questions, I have no involvement in the holiday tin program, so I don't know anything about them! Sorry!!

They have them here at Wal-mart in N. Alabama so maybe they will not be far off from Pinson. I picked up a 110 just because of this thread.

Bucksway: Were you looking only at the Holiday Tins or other 110's as well? The difference is the 07 holiday 110's are made with rosewood scales vs. the 'standard' 110 made with laminated obeche wood. Buck usually reserves the rosewood for more premium knives like the 110BP, 110AG, knives with 154CM steel, etc.

Rosewood:

Laminated obeche:

Jimmer: the Post Falls WW should have a whole isle dedicated to Buck knives!
