WALKING DEAD Season 4, Sunday 10-13-13

Die of Ebola end up a walker....but the point that people died of many other things before the Apocalypse is a good one. Btw I call that all this is in Ricks head and he's still in a coma...

Ah man that is great, "I call that all this is in Ricks head and he's still in a coma... "

Wasn't there a show back in the 80s where an entire season was someone dreaming in coma? IIRC it ended the series.

In the trailer Herschel does mention water. It also shows what appears to be Carol getting a hose in the creek.

Also screwed up by throwing a gun and ammo away. Shameful

I didn't take it as Rick throwing that 1911 away, I took it more as he was putting it in his wheelbarrow along with the other things he was harvesting and he would deal with it later. After he cleared it of course.
Did you guys think he was throwing it away, or putting it aside for later?

The way I saw it was that now, after all the scrapes he's been in, he is relatively comfortable going about his daily business whiteout a side arm. Some guys are fine with hunting hogs with a blade, most people wouldn't. When Herschel told him that the council insisted that he start carrying his pistol when outside the fence it kind of reaffirmed it for me. He feels safe just carrying a blade. Maybe he acquired a Busse. :)

Yep. Dallas.

That was just a story-line in which they killed off Patrick Duffy's character, then realized that for a season and a half; the story-line sucked. So they brought him back to Life in the shower, and it turned out to be a bad dream.

I think the whole series in someone's head thing was "St. Elsewhere."

The Producers decided to give a giant middle finger to everyone who loved the series over the years it was on, by making the whole damn thing a fantasy inside the mind of a young mentally challenged boy. The two oldest doctors on the series turned out to be his Guardians. One of whom just got home from working long hours at his blue-collar job. The hospital itself was shown as a model inside a large snow-globe that the boy found fascinating and would stare at for hours. That was the last episode.

Ironically, since "Cheers" was an off-shoot of "St. Elsewhere," technically everything that took place in that show is also inside the head of the same mentally challenged boy.

I also agree with others that it could also be the virus evolving. From what we know so far is everyone is infected and will become walker upon death but the the infection itself doesn't kill you, just turns you but perhaps the virus has now become fatal.

If the producers went in that direct, it's a dumb move. Got to keep the drama up by giving the characters at least a real chance for survival and hope.

I heard a rumor that they might introduce more survivors. Headed by a mysterious leader called the Tin Man. For some reason that no one can figure out, the undead don't attack him. They just ignore him the way they would one of their own. He got bit over a year ago, but never turned. Rumors at the large camp where he leads a group of survivors are that Tin Man is actually immune to the zombie virus. (This goes back to Rick and the others heading to the CDC and being tested. Only to learn that all of them are infected.)

Though he himself thinks there might be another, less wonderful reason. Only a handful of those whom he leads know his true identity. He wears a ski-mask when around them. Does this to protect them and himself since apparently there are rumors of an immune individual out there, and there are mercenaries trying to find him. A small scouting party of Rick's people stumbles onto the camp and is captured. Tin man apparently recognizes Glenn and stops his people from killing the outsiders whom they mistake for raiders at first. Though Glenn has no clue who Tin man is. Later on in the season, there was supposed to be a big, mind-blowing reveal. But with plenty of clues scattered about in each episode. Along with a scientist at Tin man's camp who is studying his condition in hopes of creating a cure from Tin man's blood. Ultimately, the camp gets overrun by mercenaries looking for him. Resulting in an epic battle with few survivors.

At least that's the rumor. But it looks so far that the Producers chose to go in the opposite direct of "no hope at all." :grumpy:

Is there gonna be a scarecrow, lion, wizard and flying monkeys too? LOL

Flying zombie monkeys would be a twist that no one saw coming.

Garth

Flying monkeys are nothing. Now the evil flying bat monkeys that is something else.

The constant emotional string pulling is a poor substitute for witty and intelligent drama. We can accept the one big lie, that the undead walk the earth, but the rest of it has to be solid and real and you can't convince me that this bunch of lazy self-centered morons can survive a trip to a supermarket, even in a warm and fuzzy zombie-free world. Bad things happen to fools, there is no nuance there. Now show us that bad things can happen to cautious, intelligent, solid people, in short the best of us, and you create a real fear and tension.

It would have been an excellent way for the series to truly stand out from the comic book. The only thing more persistent than the rumors of that storyline were that Tin Man was going to be introduced in the very first episode of the season. Yeah, that's not happening. If he shows up in the 2nd episode ... Sorry for ruining the entire season for you guys.

Caught the premier on AMC.com and it was interesting to say the least. Needless to say I'll be logging in there weekly.

Thanks to the member who directed me there, it played well on the computer and commercials weren't too awful painful. Lots of unanswered questions presented though. Like others I saw the first half as a reunion of sorts, I fully expected 50's driving music to start playing... till I saw Mr Bloody eyes.
