Walking Dead Season 5 (HEADS UP: Possible Episode Spoilers May Be Posted Within)

If they follow the comics, we'll have to sit through a season or so of a dragging storyline before hitting the ground running on the other side. It's absolutely worth it, though.

I think they'll end this season on a higher note and make mention of who/what is potentially coming... but the start of next season (October) will likely be a slight jump into the future- in order to fast track back into the action.

might happen sooner, but I don't think they'll drag for another season.

Nothing about the two guys following them to "verify" what kind of people they are makes a bit of sense. If they have plenty of food and walls to protect their town or village or whatever you want to call it............why are they out sneaking around in the woods recruiting people at their own risk?

What's the old saying? "If it seems to good to be true, it probably is."

They've already played out the tyrannical governor town, the cannibal town, what could be next...........???? A town looking for young and virile people to re-populate the earth?

I think that Michonne has a huge soft spot for Judith and wants her to grow up in a safe spot more than anything. That and she's seeing the group turn into what she was when she was out on her own. One thing's for sure is that in the last few episodes she has made sure to tell Rick what's what and he doesn't back talk her. Lol! I think that she has actually been more of a group leader that he has lately.

Well, they seemed to have evolved more into a "whole is greater than the sum of the parts" type group. Each of them with a critical role. I don't see one clear leader anymore, but personalities balancing each other out. Rick as the Pit Bull... Carol and Daryl as All round utility bad asses... Michonne more nurturing, etc.

The playing field doesn't need to be even - their community offers something to the group, more so than the other way around. If this were a relationship where everything was 50/50, then I would agree with you. But they don't have to let them in if they don't want, and I don't blame them for making them surrender their weapons first. And clearly Rick agrees since not only is he agreeing to it, but it's always been his own policy when it's the other way around.

I'm just as pro-2A as anybody else, but I wouldn't let some stranger off the street come into my home and be around my family while carrying. Especially in TWD's world.

I don't know the comics so if your thinking is based on them, I stand corrected, but... The community asked the group to join. Not the other way around. They both offer each other valuable assets. If this community has in fact been watching Rick and the group, they would know they don't pose a "moral/criminal/malicious" threat. Otherwise why ask them to join. Aaron goes through great lengths to convince them to trust him and follow him, and then as soon as they get there, they're asked to surrender their weapons? I don't know. That's like a red flag to me that says "we wanna disarm you for the shady sh*t we intend to pull"... "We've gone as far as using listening devices to ascertain who you are and what you're about... we know your names and we convince you to follow us back to happyville, but we don't trust you past our gates."

Ulllllltimately though... I think this place is legit. I think the weird questions will pan out, and the next great threat will come from outside the community of Alexandria. I think this is just some down time for some happy prison gardening type stuff, where we learn about Daryls favorite flavor of oatmeal, and where Carol's favorite pre-apocalyptic vacation spot used to be.

Maybe its a town for people with superior taste in knives.

...Just wait till they find out Daryl lost the TG.

I think you're right, that's my theory as well. I wouldn't be surprised if they skipped over a good portion of the comics to get straight to it.

I hate spoilers, so I'm very careful about what I say, don't worry.

Trust but verify.

Rick did the same thing. He even went so far as to knock Aaron out and tie him up despite common sense telling him that he wasn't a threat. All signs pointed to Aaron telling him the truth and yet he still didn't trust him, he needed to verify for the safety of his family.

I can't fault Rick or the community for that.

The women have really surprised me. Not a single weak link amongst them. The guys on the other hand have Eugene and Gabriel bringing down their average.

I might agree with you if the "group" had walked up to the "community" and asked to be let in. But as it is, the "community" sent two people out to "recruit" the "group"! They spied upon them fairly extensively and learned quite a bit about them. In this situation, there is NO WAY I'm giving up my weapons! I say adios MF, I'm outa here. YOU INVITED ME! I didn't ask to be let in!

And why in the world would you let some stranger off the street come into your home and be around your family in the first place??? I can't conceive of a situation where I'd let a perfect stranger into my home, whether they are carrying or not! And by the way, if I am out of bed, unless I am in the shower, I am carrying. If I invite you into my home, I don't care if you are carrying or not, because I do not invite anyone into my home unless I trust them.:)

What they're doing is the equivalent of letting that stranger come into their home. In TWD's world, at some point you have to start "getting back to normal". You have to stop simply surviving and instead start building towards something. And you can't do that alone - you have to slowly but surely start building a community, and that requires bringing new people into it.

That's the whole point of TWD. It's not primarly a zombie show, it's not even primarily a survival show. It's about their struggle to return to normal and recover some semblance of humanity. To do that you have to start reaching out to one another - the foreshadowing of having Rick's "we are the walking dead" speech right before this wasn't exactly subtle.

I found the episode to be mainly filler. Though action-packed filler.

Main things were.... Aaron is gay. And the group reached Alexandria. Which, unless you've read the comics, has no significance for you.

Though at the end of Season 4, before getting herded into the train-car, there was a big letter "A" on the back of it. Letting the comics fans know that the group would end up in Alexandria at some point in Season 5. That now only leaves one other major location from the comics that the group could eventually visit. (Though it's not actually likely we'll see the Hilltop colony setting in the TV series.)

I'm not surrendering my weapons, period.

If they ASK me to come and then want to disarm me, deal breaker. It would be one thing if I was trying to engender trust, but when I'm the one that they desire the presence of, my weapons are coming with me or I'm not there.

We think alike!:thumbup::D

I get the feeling that the next episode is going to be real boring. Picking out curtains for their houses in their new walker free neighborhood and whatnot.

Seems that they have merged two storylines from the book. Thank God.

BTW. Rick will end up having to kick that guys ass I'm guessing.

Was the glock from the blender the one that the lead runner gave to Glenn?
The wall supports are on the wrong side...

I haven't read the comics so I have no clue what might or might not be coming. There is something not quite right about that town. Everything is just a little too perfect. They have supposedly survived for some time but they leave their gates open so walkers can just saunder in? They have survived for a while but they want Rick to teach them how to be safe?

And where are all the people providing the infrastructure for nicely painted and maintained houses, the water treatment and pumping plant for showers, etc.? The town has observed Rick's group long enough know their names, ask them in, etc. but then immediately disarm them? The two guys pick the weapons for Glen, etc. when they go outide the walls instead of letting Glen, etc. check out their own weapons as promised? And Rick's hidden gun is missing?

Lots of things just not quite right. And you'd think that Rick, etc. would be a lot more cautious after what happened at Terminus. Just say'n.

My dad, who also read the books, had the theory that the blonde girl is going to take Andrea's place as Rick's love interest. I for one think it'll work.

WHERE IS THE TEAM GEMINI?!?!?!?

Sorry. Had to get that out... Anyways, I don't like the congresswomans ROTC douche son. He's terrible. And he only got about 5 minutes of screen time. I loved when Glenn knocked him on his dopey ass. And then Daryl came in to take the other dude. They said it best on Talking Dead when the group has seen war and those kids are playing war. Great episode.
