Walking Dead Time!

** Spoiler alert - for those that haven't seen ep 12 **

2 things happened in this episode that stood out for me..

- Rick met a person who saved his life and while very rational back then has now lost his marbles
- Michonne let Rick know she spoke to her dead boyfriend for a while...

I'm hoping these things will help Ricks character find himself again. His carry on lately has been annoying but I wonder if this was the opportunity for him to get it back together. I have not been liking the crazy Rick story line...

Michonne also got another cross bow... Cool :)

I keep wondering why Michonne doesn't go more samurai on the walkers around her. She seems to be able to take out 3 or 4 without breaking a sweat (that sword is awesome!) but when the prison is invaded, she kills a few to get through to safety, but doesn't seem inclined to clean house.

I think she could easily have cleared the yard of all those walkers. She seems to kill as few as it takes to get where she's going

Was kind of sad to see the state of mind that Morgan has been reduced to. I do think though that they will use the encounter with Morgan to kind of get Rick to snap out of his crazy funk that he has been in.

The advancement of Michonne's character was interesting. She finally seemed to show a human side.

Great episode.
I got a kick out of the hiker encounter a bit of humor done in a subtle way to keep within the overall genre:thumbup:

Sad to think that the world would really turn out like that. I understand the trust no one mentality, but it would stil be a crappy way to live. If they wers so determined to just let the guy on the road die, they could have just put one in his head and ended it quickly. Pretty twisted to just leave him for a walker snack.

The backpacker pissed me off! What the hell was he thinking? First he's screaming at the top of his lungs to get the car to stop like this is his first day in the zombie apocalypse even though it's been well over a year since the outbreak so if he's survived that long he SHOULD know that zombies are are attracted to noise and to shut the hell up! And it's pretty obvious that he didn't have any weapons because he ended up crub side zombie chow. The backpacker made no since what so ever? Now if they would have stopped to pick him up and got ambushed by 5 other people... Well that probabally what was going through there heads and why they didn't stop.

This was one of my thoughts. It's been what? About a year? Year and a half? Everyone I think that has survived this far would at least be somewhat knowledgeable of basic walker strategies. Makes you think about what his story would have been though...
I also frequently think about that guy living in the cabin in the woods last season, the guy they encountered on their way to Woodbury I believe. He had the perfect set up.:D

They are already having issues feeding and arming the people they have. They passed the backpacker because he was seen as a liability, not an asset.

It's funny how we see things. I found that particular encounter rather sad.

I did too.....It was like a glimmer of hope driving up and then passing you by.

ha-ha. no do not get me wrong the sad part of it was not lost on me. I just found it a bit humorous when the hiker caught up with them a second time and Rik was like: .. eh
do not mind that screaming fool let's go

I guess he had it coming to him the whole ordeal is open to many interpretations because we do not know much about the hiker (he was sporting arcteryx backpack (good product placement BTW) so he got good gear - but maybe he was out of food and desperate. Maybe he did not see a living soul for a year. who knows?

Yeah, I think he was a liberal. :D

So i watched the latest episode last night, finally, I believe it is one of the most interesting episodes yet... anyway, what really surprises me is how well Hobbes´ state of nature is depicted now.

Three things are remarkable from that episode,
1. the backpacker scene, shows the most primordial impulse of survival, which is the de-humanization, at the beginning of the show you could see everybody helping each other, and that doesn´t happen now, is pure survival, because there are more risks on interacting with an unknown person than not. If you combine that with the total lack of remorse for not helping anyone in need, you get 100% Hobbes.
2. The shortening of the childhood stage, during wwii in Europe, 12yo were considered men, and they were ready to bear arms and go to fight, much like the primitive tribes nowadays, a 12-13 y.o. is ready to fight, have a family of their own, and contribute to the community in equal terms.
3. The emotional collapse of some people. According to Col. D. Grossman, not everybody has the capacity to withstand violent situation, apparently the Morgan character, went into “auto-pilot” because he couldn´t bear to be forced into a violent life.
And another cool thing about this episode is that there is a significant decrease in the drama put up by rick and some other characters… I felt like I was watching days of our lives at some point…LOL.

What keeps me wondering is how much our lives feel to be under control, that more and more movies, and books, and tv series, depict a catastrophic reorganization of mankind.

It sounded like having his undead wife attack (and destroy) his son right in front of him is what drove Morgan over the edge.

Does anyone know who makes the sword Michonne uses? It must be a heck of a good katana to cut through skulls like that without taking a set

Looks like it might be one of those stage prop type swords. I don't know of anyone who uses a biohazard symbol as a makers mark

Thanks! I love that design, but why would they make the replica in 1045? How crappy is that...
