Walking Dead Time!

Wow. I've got a 1070 katana that is a comp cutter designed specifically for cutting mats. It's uses 1070 thru hardened to avoid taking a set on a bad hit. Basically a sword shaped spring.

The main differencebetween Morgan's son, Duane, and Carl, is that Carl was able to pull the trigger on his Mom when he had too. Carl is alive and Duane was a snack. The parallel is very compelling.

I keep wondering why Michonne doesn't go more samurai on the walkers around her. She seems to be able to take out 3 or 4 without breaking a sweat (that sword is awesome!) but when the prison is invaded, she kills a few to get through to safety, but doesn't seem inclined to clean house.

I think she could easily have cleared the yard of all those walkers. She seems to kill as few as it takes to get where she's going

Y'know -- I often think that myself. It's like that scene back in Woodbury, when Michonne opened the pen full of zombies, stepped back, and then mowed them all down, Miyamoto Musashi-style. I think, "Crap! She could clear the prison all by her lonesome!"

But I guess they're trying to steer clear of making her seem TOO superhuman... But it's a bit of a shift when they sometimes show her cleaving zombies left and right, and sometimes fleeing when she has then lined up in front of her in a corridor...

Did anyone watch "The Talking Dead" after this most recent episode? I find the show gives me a nice "fix," because each episode ends with me screaming for more... :)

Anyway, this last TTD had a segment with one of the show's special FX guys, who explained some of the details and thought processes that went into creating Morgan's booby-trapped town. In the intensity of the moment, there were some details that I never even absorbed -- like the fact that Morgan had color-coded ladders going up the walls everywhere, giving him escape routes with visual cues. Also, he had cables with pulleys criss-crossing overhead, allowing him to set up traps wherever he needed.

Among other things (like the writing, acting, directing, music... :D ), it's this amazing attention to detail that really brings the show to vivid life.

BTW -- the next episode of TTD will feature Eliza Dushku and the actress who plays Maggy as the guests...

Carl really has become pretty awesome. He has really grown past the whiny brat he was not so long ago.

And he got to shoot Laurie which I think lots of people wanted to do.

Yeah, next to Shane Carl was my least favourite character of last season. Its been good to see the writers develop him as a character so well this season.

Really sad that Morgan's son didn't survive. Carl could have taught him a few things.

Garth

One of the saddest parts in the entire ep to me was when Rick finds the walkie he gave to Morgan in the first ep and looks up at the chalk board and see's "Duane Turned" scribbled on it.

What kind of sheath does Daryl use for his TG? I don't mean brand or anything, just the style. Is it drop leg, low-ride, etc? The handle strap seems to sit very near the top of the handle as well. Sorry if this seems obvious, I'm new to larger fixed blades. I've never had to consider sheath carry options before.

I couldn't agree more, LOL. I love season and I think it's been the best so far, but it could have been better without Laurie.....;)

Hopefully Rick has now cleared his head a bit and we will be done with Laurie. Rick seeing ghosts is the only part of this season that doesn't do it for me.

So here is my other thought about the last episode......

You (Rick) are about to go to war with the Governor. A better supplied force with more man power. You leave to get supplies. You find a guy who has his own armory. Guns, ammo, grenades, all kinds of cool toys. Why would you only take a couple Duffel bags. I would have loaded the car to maximum capacity. That would have you much better equipped than your present situation, still leaving Morgan with way more equipment than what one man could use.

I've never seen the show, but have wondered what sheath he uses for the TG.

Maybe someone will come along and let you know.

Agreed, good luck fighting a small town's army with a couple duffel bags worth......

Yeah, Rick's hallucinations are almost as annoying as Laurie's character was....

Great episode! But, Morgan sinks about 6 inches of steel in to Rick's chest/shoulder and it barely seems to affect him? I hardly even saw any blood afterwards. Rick didn't even seem to show any pain, even when loading a heavy duffel bag in to the car!

so much agree!

A knife to the shoulder is NOT something you just "walk off"

Well Rick is not your average man.

After all, he sees dead people. Maybe that is just part of his super powers.
