WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE: GEC Outlaw Jack #76

Anxiously awaiting this one.....has anyone heard what type of scales will be available with these??? I really liked the Micarta and Calico that were available on the #79.

Per Mike Latham:

#76 Tidioute Outlaw Pattern 3 -9/16” closed length, clip/pen blades, smooth bolster, cap end
Jigged Bone – color to be determined
Rootbeer Float Acrylic
Smooth Black Buffalo Horn
Bocote Wood

#76 Northfield Outlaw Pattern 3-9/16” closed length, clip/pen blades, slanted/lined/dimpled bolsers/cap ends
Jigged Bone – color to be determined
Wood – kind to be determined
Primitive Bone
Burnt Stag
Natural Stag

I do wonder if the Outlaw name will give rise to some large, gaudy blade etches. I could do without those for the most part.
I really like this pattern, I wouldn't mind seeing it with some of GEC's acrylics and the gaudy etches don't bother me much they fade away pretty quick into the patina.

Thanks for the info, Peruna.

While I'm interested in the Root Beer acrylic I'm holding out for a Northfield this time, their swedges get me everytime!

I wish GEC would do more in their Green Tea bone...oh and also a Scout!

Oooh, I'm excited for the smooth black buffalo horn. That's such a nice handle material!

I just noticed something, that main clip is a saber grind isn't it?

Pretty little knife. I am going to need a couple presents for the groomsmen in my upcoming wedding. This may end up being just the ticket. I will have to say that I have already seen enough dimpled bolsters to last a lifetime. :)

Looks like there is an outlaw at the end of the hall this week

See they have some more pics up of the 76 in process.

The one drawing clearly shows a saber grind. I commented the other day that I thought I was seeing that in one of the pics. Has GEC made a knife with a saber grind prior to this? I don't remember one.

I dont think they have, put a matchstrike long pull on it and it will remind me of my old camillus :)

GEC has made Saber grind knives before (the #12 and #65 off the top of my head), if the drawing you are referring to is the one where the bolster dies are shown, I believe those are unrelated to the #76 (the drawing looks to be a fixed blade design)

Ah, my mistake.

But the two pics on the bottom definitely look like a saber grind to me. Be interesting to see what kind of nail nicks they put on it. I looked up the 65 and it looks like that could be what it will look like.

I've been following this knife pretty closely and I might just get it. My only question is: with all my jacks, when open and looking down inside the knife the main blade is on the right; however with this knife the pen blade is on the right. Does this bother anybody or is it easy to get adjusted to?

Given a choice, I like/prefer the pen blade in front of the main and therefore both pulls on the same side. Would prefer it even more if the pen was replaced by a coping blade.
