Washington Street!!

A misplaced possessive apostrophe adds credibility. ;)

   ;)

I was over in Sheffield today, and told the chap who owns the shop where I bought your Ettrick about these Charlie (showed him my Charlow too!)

Is the 77 Washington Jack a limited run, has it already been released and sold out, will it run again anytime soon?

I am trying to figure out if I have missed my opportunity to own one of these.

Been released and sold out I believe. I have no idea as to whether another run will be made. Keep your eyes peeled on the for sale forums

Man alive, those seemed to have flown of the shelf....

Do all GEC new runs go that fast? or was the Washington Jack a special case of some sort ?

Who has them, where to buy them, how much they cost, how many are left questions and answers don't belong in this forum. PMs, VMs, email, phone call, smoke signals, whatever but not here.

Recent GEC runs have sold out pretty fast. Washington Jack was a special factory order (SFO) commissioned by Charlie Campagna. Charlie's SFOs usually sell pretty quickly.

Shame i missed out on that one, was a gorgeous knife in any of the cover options. Oh well lol, I'll have to see if one ever come up for sale when I have the cash. Thanks for letting me know.

You should always check the GEC blog for knives in production. They have links to contact the vendor and reserve one. This is what you have to do to get the best SFO's at new prices before they hit eBay or sales threads at double or triple the price.

Charlie Campagna is the guy who designs and commissions the TC Barlows - the Washington Jacks were his as well - and his, as well as Mike's (from collectorknives.net), Special Factory Orders (SFO) are usually the most desirable GEC's to be produced every year and they go fast. Just keep your eyes open on this forum and check the blog regularly and you should be able to get yourself one when they come up. Just depends how much you want it. I would've loved one of those Washington Jacks but couldnt't afford one AND the 77 medium Barlows that just finished - and look fantastic - so I just went with the Barlow. You might still be able to get one of the sweet - and pretty rare - #77 medium Barlows, check collectorknives.net. But believe me they will go just about about as fast as the Washington Jacks did.

Unfortunately I don't have the funds to obtain either. I didn't relive the 77s were limited and was hinting to my wife how great a Christmas gift it would be. I will have to be more watchful in the future.

I received my two Washington Jacks recently. The Autumn Bone is very nice. The Polished Stag left a bit to be desired.

Autumn Bone up first:

Next the polished stag. I have a number of GEC knives, and this one has me scratching my head. As far as the stag itself, I was hoping for, well, polished stag. This one really should be called 3rd cut stag - it's similar to a TC Barlow I have. Mine had little polish and lots of marrow. OK, luck of the draw. But I kept wanting to clean off some black spots along one edge on both sides. I first thought it was surface dirt, but it's through the material. I realize you don't know what you have with this kind of stuff until you sand it down. Some other things I noticed are shown here, just for documentary purpose. This knife will be a user, so here goes:

Here are some issues I'm not giddy about:

Liner gap

Swedge grind

Inlay

I really like this verion of the 77, and I think it and the Barlow version are great. I'm hoping the fit & finish on my Barlows are up to snuff. I figured as a user, what the heck, but the "dirt" spots really bothered me, so a little bit of sanding and some darkening stain, and I like it a lot better. It hides the black spots, and looks a bit rustic. I'm happy with that. Maybe I can send it back for the liner gap fix.:

How about someone posting a sticky that says, ALLof the Washington Jacks are gone from the dealers. We are sorry if you weren't able to obtain one. Go check the exchange or the auction site. I honestly don't mean any disrespect here, but could we please get back to the picture show?!

Hi Sherman, that one would look great with a coat or two of Fiebings leather dye. Great knives though, I'm looking forward to mine.

Best regards

Robin

I had no idea what the polished stag would look like and I'm glad I passed on it.... I have to admit, I agree with you on yours. That autumn bone, however, looks fantastic!

BTW, anyone who missed out on that smooth autumn bone will have a chance with the Northfield #54's scheduled for later his year. I'm looking forward to those.... even though I already have 2 of em.

The last thing we're going to do is make a sticky about any companies knives being sold out, with the possible exception of the yearly forum knife.

I'd also like to see more pictures and knife discussion and less commercially related questions.

I'll repeat this here for those who missed it a few posts ago;

Who has them, where to buy them, how much they cost, how many are left questions and answers don't belong in this forum. PMs, VMs, email, phone call, smoke signals, whatever but not here.

Here's the official language from the guidelines;
In order to avoid Terms Of Service (TOS) violations, please omit links or referrals to vendors within the forum. ("Deal Spotting" is a violation of the TOS.)
We want the forum to focus upon the discussion of traditional knives...not the purchasing process, prices nor vendors and their websites.

The exception to the rule above is that you may refer other members to vendors who support bladeforums.com via a "Dealer" membership.

Otherwise, if someone inquires where you made a purchase, please take a moment to provide them with the requested information via email or PM.
Do not publish prices or links within the threads as this may be construed as shilling for a particular vendor and violate the TOS.

Sherman, Thats not a huge liner gap, -how much did you pay for the knife? I only ask you this about price because of comparison to value for money.
I received my Forums knife just the other day, the Swedge runs off and looks close to what was shown as a second- but its still a fantastic knife and I wouldnt dream of sending it back - in comparison to what I paid for the knife? - I got a bargain.

I love Stag, but the polished Stag doesnt excite me - The reason I love Stag is because of its texture - the colour - everything about Stag - but if someone were to describe Polished Stag" I wouldnt be expecting Stag - any form of polishing means sanding back before the polishing process - so therefore to me its no longer Stag, its polished bone and I dont think anyone should be expecting Stag.
The Autumn Bone looks stunning.
