Hmmm...
knife or food,
knife or gas money,
knife or text books for a year,
knife or girlfriend,
knife or plane ticket home for Thanksgiving and Christmas,
knife or winter heating bills...
...KNIFE!! :D ;) :p

Is the $800 price based on supposition, or has it been confirmed? For that price I'd expect a more exotic handle than cocobolo, and damascus.

Just checked with BM, and the 25 pieces are sold out! $800.00 each

They will be marked Les DeAsis special, come with a presentation wood box and certificate of aucthenticity. They began taking orders yesterday, and are sold out today.

Wasn't there a spring loaded latch on one of those (ugly but wierd) Sweedish balisongs?

I believe the blade was marked "KNIFEBRIKEN GNOSJO" over "STAINLESS STEEL SWEDEN"

If you don't remember, I believe that balisongcollector.com has a picture of one.

Not that I'll ever be able to actually set my eyes on one of these customs to see for myself.

They are probably all dumb anyway...

All I can say is WOW WOW WOW!! (I want to say more, but I am being gagged!) The blade and the handles are gorgeous!!

This knife is a beauty and worth every penny!!! :)

Wait a minute, Edgy,
You say that you've seen the handles, but they haven't been posted yet...

What's going on here???

how the **** did people already get in on this? Why are people talking about how it looks? We've only got a picture of the blade, right? RIGHT?!?

AH!!!!!!!

I called Benchmade yesterday, and asked them about the knife. They said, it is a custom kris high polish with cocobolo wood inserts, 303 stainless handles, and they were accepting orders with shipment at the end of September 2001. Also, they said, there will only be 25 high polish with Les DeAsis Special on them. They did say in October 2001 they would make 100 regular customs with a satin Kris blades at $600.00 each. Thats what I know, and I ordered and got one. Called them today and they are sold out on the 25 high polish models. I do not know why they are not saying much on the forum, but told people when they called?

I'm sorry, but as I said I am gagged and cannot explain how I know what I know - but they are gorgeous! :) you will see - the pattern on one side of the handle matches whether it is closed or open in a very interesting way . . . very neat! :)

420: Don't you know? Edgy is Francisco De Asis!!? Les De Asis' Son :) stop picking on him or else he;'ll tell on you ;)

Masse: The knife you are referring to is the "Boo Special" It is not a Spring loaded latch (ie. a "switch-blade latch" to put it in more visible terms) but a spring operated latch gate. There is a ball bearing ans spring milled into the latch to substitute for "sqeezing the handles" to lock the knife closed.. instead of that it "stretches" across and over the safe handle.

(i forget if I have a diagram in my page but apic is worht a thousand words)

there is also a coil spring put in the last hole whcih acts as both a latch gate as well as a spring to keep the latch upright. Although it wont "SPROING!!" when you delatch it'll keep the latch reklatively straight (parallel to the handles) while manipulation.

THe device is fitted into a 48S high polished by Boo.

 Wow, it is a good thing you all left it up to BM to reveal the new knife, such respect. If any of you come out with a new knife that you don't want anyone to know everything about just let me know so I can spoil the surprise.

:barf:
