Waved Paramilitary 2: The knife I didn't realize I've been waiting for

Just got mine unpacked and am a very satisfied customer.

I take back what I posted earlier about the steel and scales. Upon actually thinking about it, I ultimately wouldn't have wanted to pay for the upgrades, and the knife is awesome "as is".

Ugh, I didn't realize BladeOps was also in Utah. Utah is the Bermuda Triangle of shipping for me, everything I buy from a Utah dealer takes an extra 1-3 days to get to me.

Bought 2. I also bought 2 Flytanium scale and a bunch of lynch clips for them.
Watched a YouTube review(keithkevinken) about this and he mentioned that the waved version is 0.5oz heavier than the normal version. Since all of the extra weight is gonna be on the blade, this version is well suited for the Flytanium scales and should give it a better balance.
I care less for the wave and more for the saber ground blade. With the more robust tip and beefier blade, this might be the best hard use PM2(until PM2 tanto comes).

May I ask which Flytanium scales you bought? I am also thinking of change the original scale as I never be a good fan to G10.

Finally came in today. I know people will disagree with me on this, but I think it's crazy how much hype there is behind sprint runs with some new steel and different colored scales, while something like this is relatively quiet online.

With the compression lock and thicker grind, this is a great candidate for a general purpose workhorse. That said, I've had the DLC PM2 in the pictures for nearly a decade at this point and I haven't had any issues with the tip or the blade not being strong enough.

It might be interesting to note that unlike the Endura and Delica Wave, there's no markings about the Emerson wave patent. Being a sprint, it could be that it was forgotten or they thought the run was too small to worry about things like that.

didn’t the wave patent run out like the Benchmade axis lock? I could be wrong but that would be a major reason why there are no markings

Hi, Kaizen1, thanks so much for the compare and the pictures. compared with many other hot limited edition/Sprint run in the past few months, this one may go beyond people's expectation.

Just the standard stonewashed titanium flytanium PM2 scale. The $79 one. It changes the feel a lot. I don’t mind heavier knife so it works for me. The total weight with flytanium and lynch short deep carry clip for a standard PM2 blade is 4.95oz, which is around the same weight as a Chris Reeve Inkosi or Umnumzaan.

Received my today as well. This is the best hard use PM2 so far. To me the wave is really secondary, i care more about the beefy blade. Now im secretly hoping that Spyderco would make a non-waved PM2 with the same saber grind.
The knife is slightly blade heavy, which means that a Flytanium will make it very balanced.

No more patent for wave, though I believe “emerson wave features” is still trademarked. It used to be “wave” but I believe leatherman made Emerson change the trademark due to the conflict with Leatherman Wave model name.

great pictures! I agree that this is probably the best sprint/exclusive of the year. It’s very underrated. Though i still wished Spyderco would just make it a standard model.

Yeah, the saber grind really makes it feel like it can handle more. Given that I don't require super hard use, I don't know how practical it actually is for those who really have to use their knives hard. But the flytanium handles in a very interesting idea. Thanks for that.

Great, thanks for the context. I haven't been staying up to date on these brands over the last few years.

Thanks and agree

Another thing to consider...... Another company that licenses Emerson designs has a Facebook group that is doing a group exclusive. The person in charge mentioned that a specific steel was the only one licensed to them to use for the Emerson designed knife. That may be the case here as well. S30V may be the only option due to what They are allowing Spyderco to use

I appreciate that Spyderco makes the effort to put out a lot of different steel options, but I'm over caring about steels, at least as a primary deciding factor for buying. There are a few steel I like due to ease of sharpening, but that's it. That's nice context to know about though.

I'd been considering a waved Delica, Endura, or Endela when I happened across this thread. What a perfect alternative for my needs! BF is great at costing me money. ;):D
