WE Knives? Another high end Chinese company?

I've had the same problem K.O.D. it's another reason I jumped on the Falcon so quickly. I've got medium to small hands and most the blades out there are way to large for me to use comfortably. Not to mention I just like a knife that doesn't feel like I'm carrying a brick in my pocket lol:)

I have large hands, but don't like so much real estate taken up in my pocket.

Someday...

They do clarify a lot about the forthcoming WE/Ferrum Forge/Massdrop collaboration in it if you're curious about how such a trio came together. Also there's some insight into how they attained the price they did, which is probably the most standout feature of the Falcon.
yea, i got the hint that they were going to make more FF knives with this colab, but this re-affirmed it for sure. going to be interesting to see how this goes and the new models they release.

6 days left and just over 1500 sold. thats a pretty good number. as they mentioned they are not making that much money through this, but a reasonable amount, plus the advertising is going to bring more customers to the FF knives they make themselves.

I've really wanted to try a WE knife but like Reate most of their designs have blade lengths greater than 3.5." the two I've found that are smaller either have a thick blade stock or are a tanto. Am I missing something? Or maybe it's time I looked at longer blades. All but two of mine are less than 3.5, most closer or at 3."

Actually, lately they have been releasing more in the 3.5" range. I, too, think that 3.9" - 4.2" is too large. I own WE Knife 606cfa which is actually on the compact side of 3.5". maybe you will like that one. Their new 704 is 3.6" so that could be a good option. The 605 is at 3". I Personally like their new 3.5" 707.

Yes I agree Dfunk the 707 does look pretty cool. I liked the look & the price of the 605 I was actually thinking on pulling the trigger on one of those when I saw the Falcon offered. With it being $100 cheeper and I believe a fair bit more pocket friendly I found myself taking part in the massdrop offer. Witch does have it's own little draw back........The Wait!!!:mad:o_O:confused::D

When anyone of you will be visiting Bladeshow, you probably can find me at the WE Knife boot 824....i will be the tall/big non-Chinese guy... would nice to meet!

I would say you have to try one. I have bought a few we knives and to me most seem much smaller than i thought they would be. Like the 702 integral. Its listed as a 3.9" blade but it sure seems like a small knife for a nearly four inch blade. The 704 should be right up your alley. Smaller and super pocket friendly weight.

In terms of quality, I'd put the top four, that I personally know of, in this order:
  1. Reate
  2. WE
  3. Rike
  4. Kizer
WE definitely wins in the quality/materials to price ratio.

I had originally planned to make it to Blade this year; there are far too many people I've been "talking" to online that I'd love to meet. Unfortunately some work commitments will keep me from attending. Have fun in Atlanta...lots to do in that town!

^ I'm right with you, JB. I've never owned, much less handled any of these brands.

^ I have the utmost respect for both you, and your opinion, RZ.

With that stated, I have never owned any of these 4 brands of knives, and in all certainty, I never will! I can live with that. :)

I find that I'm able to fulfill my knife fix, buying American made knives, from American, who employee American worker's (especially Veteran's). A few that come to mind:

Zero Tolerance
CRK
Protech
Benchmade
Spyderco (I realize they have a economy line)
Microtech
Brous
Medford
Strider

I understand. However, my post was limited to Chinese knife makers not an absolute ranking.

^ I understood what you meant. :)

It's just that some of these Chinese made knives (from the 4 companies you ranked), aren't cheap. I'd just as soon buy American knives, at these price points.

I'm Patriotic. This is why I never entertained the idea of buying anything other than an American made truck.

This is just my personal opinion. If somebody would like to send me one of their knives, so I can try it out and offer my opinion of what I think, feel free. :)

I just don't get what all the fuss is about, regarding these knives!
