WE Knives? Another high end Chinese company?

I've noticed that with my zt 0920 vs the WE 703 I have. The ceramic bearings are considerably smoother
Imho that is the ceramic detent. The chinese makers have been using them for years and it almost makes it seem like they have rolling detents even though they dont roll. I personally have never really been able to tell the difference in the pivot bearings themselves.

The ZT's these days seem to open hard and fast. The detents are very stiff. so you're probably correct. My Chinese bearing folders do just roll open, with a pull not near the build up/release of my ZTs which send the blade out hard and fast.

Well, despite my best intentions to not buy any production knives for a while, the WE 704CF shattered my resolve and left me broken (and broke...)

I personally don't have a need for a Karambit but those new 708 certainly are prime examples of good karambit. I only have one karambit in my collection. The now discontinued 5.11 s30v Tarani CUB Master 2.0 Folding Karambit that I bought on a whim years ago.

I share the frustration with the wait time but I couldn't resist the ferrum forge mass drop we collaboration. Looks like a really sweet knife and at that price. I'll just forget I ever bought it and it will show up one day like an early Christmas present

I take the same kind of attitude, lol. I'll hopefully forget about the knife then be blown away when it shows up for Thanksgiving dinner! That's just such an incredible deal from Ferrum Forge / WE / MassDrop.

My 704CF got delivered today but unfortunately it got delivered to my office :(...which I am not at on a Saturday. I'll have to wait till Monday to fondle the sexy, purple carbon-fiberness of my new knife...

I received the same 704CF yesterday. Unfortunately mine has to go back as it has some weird scratches in the handle that I am not happy with but I ordered a replacement as soon as I discovered them. I think if you want a light EDC friendly knife with a really great slicing blade you are going to be over the moon. The detent on mine was super weak but oddly enough it flips effortlessly given the flippers orientation to the pivot. IMHO its one of the best WE releases so far. I love how thin the blade is at the edge but retaining the thicker blade stock we is known for. My only gripe is they did some type of sealer over the titanium anodizing. It kinda mutes that really bright metallic look WE's anodizing has and prevents finger oils from changing the color. I myself love that but I understand some not caring for it. The only other gripe is you have to be careful not to push in on the lockbar when closing it as the screw for the steel lock insert will hang up on the CF scale making the knife impossible to close. Hopefully that wont be an issue with my replacement. But great choice on the color. :D:thumbsup:

I too got my 704CF two days ago. I freaking love it! Maybe I got a gem but the detent, smoothness on closing and build is fantastic. I love the blade coating too. They're definitely striving for the Shirogorov style of coating. Falls shut and I can lightswitch, pushbutton and slow flip it. I'm in love

I hated the thought of waiting tell November to receive a blade I bought in May. However after watching the Massdrop Video on the (Farrum Forge /We Falcon) I knew I was going to buy one for sure so why not get it at the lowest price possible. :)

Solid.

My next made in china was gonna be a Stedemon SHY IV, but I'm not paying $90 premium for an aluminum handle; I can start another AR lower build for that along with many other things.

Episode 3 of Knifenuts.net podcast with Misanthropia Misanthropia and a few other guys have Ferrum Forge on as special guests and they talk about the WE Knife company etc.
give it a listen https://knifenuts.net/podcast/

They do clarify a lot about the forthcoming WE/Ferrum Forge/Massdrop collaboration in it if you're curious about how such a trio came together. Also there's some insight into how they attained the price they did, which is probably the most standout feature of the Falcon.

I've really wanted to try a WE knife but like Reate most of their designs have blade lengths greater than 3.5." the two I've found that are smaller either have a thick blade stock or are a tanto. Am I missing something? Or maybe it's time I looked at longer blades. All but two of mine are less than 3.5, most closer or at 3."
