We, the People, hereby request......

The reason I used a lock-back in this design was that it's strong and easily produced. As Woody pointed out it's an old and proven design.

I agree. My concern however, in the words of my father from years ago..."If you want to be 100% certain that a knife won't fold up on your fingers, don't use a folding knife." :D
Smart guy.

i wont name the manufacturer because there are alotta die hard fans on this forum, but i spent between 3 and 400 on a folder (a first and last) that right off the get go the liner didnt securely lock the blade. looking back, maybe 25%, and i didnt know any better..... when it should have stopped smack dab in the middle of the blade securing it from folding. excuse my terminology, i dont know how to put the design flaw into words, but the knife closed on my right thumb while cleaning a deer, and it went through the nail and all. yes, it was partially my fault, but i believe a knife should come right outta the factory ready to use, not needing a break in period. especially for that money.

LOL. Actually, I agree with that. There are those who say that a folder is already broken when it comes from the factory.:D

But there are a number of reasons why people carry folders; the primary one being that they, well, they fold. The thing is to try to make the folding/locking mechanism strong enough that they only fold when you want them to.:D

If Becker would produce that folder,I would certainly purchace one!Yes,I agree on the lockback design.

I actually laughed out loud. Well said.

Oh, and by the way, not only did I design it, but yes, I did the rendering, too. It's what I've done for a living for the past 35 years (design, illustration and copywriting.):D

Thanks for the earlier kudos.

You're welcome.
I'll stick to calculations!

around here if you are not a Farmer/LE you get looked at kinda wierd if your fixed blade gets noticed. yes i know, this is Iowa, but people still see fixed blades and think "troublemaker". during deer season, that goes right out the window...some of these fellas carry big Bowies right into the coffee shop for breakfast and nobody thinks twice. LOL...but in general, a folder is a more PC decision.

I can carry my PUMA Plainsman 3 3/4" folder in a belt sheath and nobody looks twice. When I wear my Necker on my belt I get comments. Go figure.

Wait till the first time I open carry a pistol (legal here).

+1 too

and i get the second one due to all this tweener nonsense ;)

Calculations? Please don't use that word in my presence. It makes me shudder, and brings back terrible memories of earlier days. What I went to school for involved heavy amounts of calculations, and I still have nightmares. I had to join a twelve step program for mathaholics, but I think I've overcome it now. Even before I got out of school I knew that I would rather make images of products than design the inner workings. Somehow, I knew that I didn't want to spend my life designing parts for toasters and lawnmowers (not that there's anything wrong with that), because it involved way, way too many calculations. Calculations? Please don't mention them: the rehab is working just fine.:D

In all seriousness, working in 3D requires a lot of that, too. It's really just a big, ugly pile of math until you render it.

thats why i carry concealed. done it for years, and never been "made"...i am one of those fellas that preach buy good leather tho. i dont buy junk guns, so why buy junk holsters?...ok sorry guys, back on topic, guns/shooting is one of my other passions so i can get carried away. just tell me to SHUT UP! LOL

If this were to actually happen, I would make sure that you got one — even if I had to buy it myself.

Tweener nonsense? The Tweeners are going to be the next big thing, just because they're smaller than the big things, and bigger than the small things. They'll be just right, and you're going to love them... whatever they are.

I just can't wait for the Tweeners... and all the other new stuff, too.

i finally found the way im gonna carry my BK11 BTW,...laced up in my boot. ive tried several boot knives in the past to free up a pocket as i carry WAY TOO much junk, but never liked anything until now. no clip, no wrap, just laced in, and im good to go. its soooo thin i dont notice it. i always wear boots and jeans so its now a part of my EDC. give it a try folks youll see what i mean

I also wear boots & jeans every day. I'll try the lacing bit. Send a pic please.
Dang... off topic again!

Ha... shouldn't feel so bad considering the title of this thread!

Why the quarter inch thick blade instead of attempting a more reasonable BK11 style folder first? I don't think I'd have any use period for a quarter inch thick folder.

A quarter inch thick blade? On a folder? No, it will be only 3/16 of an inch when it's finished, and have a partial distal taper. I just haven't done a grind on it yet (you're still looking at the basic slab in the pictures). I'm figuring a blade length of around 3 7/8 inches for this guy, although nothing is set in stone, yet.

because theres a TON of folders out there in that category...do you have a BK2? no offense, im just saying if you did, youd see why we want this BK2folder:thumbup:

and i do like the 3 7/8" blade length, that would make it just under 4" and completely legal to carry ED in Iowa. dont quote me, but i do believe thats the limit. ive always stuck by it not to compromise my CCW with a weapons charge. sometimes the laws are muddy around here and vary from county to county
