Are there alternative production style knives, for chicken boning in particular, made with good steel?

I found Warther Cutlery, this odd brand with no specs and a weird hammer pattern on all their knives, but they're all made with Magnacut (and no HRC).

Kizer just released a 4" Kwaiken fixed blade with Nitro V that might actually work well for my case (butchering 2000 birds a season), though I usually use a >5" blade.

I don't know anything about Caribou Knives, or any alternatives, but I would suggest starting a thread here in General Discussion and ask. This thread is more of a "new member introduction" thread, and a place to ask questions about navigating the forum. If you start your own thread in GD more people will see it and you will be more likely to get answers to your questions.

To start your own thread in any sub-forum of Bladeforums, click on the orange "Post Thread" button that appears on the right side of the screen at the top of the first page of any sub-forum, and go from there.

Hey guys,

New here as well. My first knife was a Benchmade Redoubt. After that, went down the rabbit hole too. Went towards folders and picked up some good ones, but now pretty much all into fixed blades. Just fits better with my my daily use/activities. At some point want to take advantage of the knife exchange.

You posted perfectly, I can see it just fine, you are even still on page 1 too 👍

The reason you only can see your post in the WTB forum, is due to your membership level (yours is free).

The reason being you need a paid membership level of at least Gold to be able to view all the other posts, and being a Gold Member gives you the privilege of selling. That’s the key.

So in order to be able to see all the WTB posts, you need be a Gold or higher paying member. Because once at that level, you are allowed to sell here.

But again, YOUR WTB post is just fine, I can clearly see it among all the others.

Good luck, I hope someone offers to sell you a new replacement. Yours sounded special.

Hello Royal1664.

I just checked, and your thread in the "Wanted" section is there, so you did it right.

Although anyone can start a thread in the "Wanted" section, only Gold members or higher can actually see the "Wanted" section because they are the only members who are allowed to sell things here. If someone sees your request and has the knife you want they can post a message on your profile page and you will see an alert on the little bell symbol in the upper right hand corner of your screen just like the one you received from me quoting your post here.

By the way, I just took a look around the internet, and there are several red handled Gerber Hinderer rescue knives with "GERBER" on the blade currently for sale on Ebay (some cheaper than others). Just do a search on Ebay for "Gerber Hinderer Rescue Knife" and you should find them.

EDIT: I see that Retired UPS Driver posted some of the same information while I was typing and searching for the knife :) .

Greetings! Thanks for the edumacation BF! Lost my 50 year companion Buck 110 last year and decided to see what other USA made blades were out there, found BF and a big old rabbit hole I fell into. BM, Strider, MKT, Protech, Microtech George, Curtiss, Heretic, Spartan. Koenig were unfamiliar and now I find them part of my EDC rotation of pocket jewelry and a whole lotta fun! Thanks BF!
 
I've been collecting knives for the better part of 10 years now. I cannot believe that I never thought to look for a website that had sales or knife discussions 😂 mainly stuck to Facebook and Instagram. Which as of late has turned into a group therapy session and a trollfest for the most part. Really looking forward to making some new friends and learning some new information again thank you guys for having me. So this is my small but respectable rotation. Spyderco matriarch 2 FRN VG10 for defense, Giant Mouse ACE Nimbus V2 Natural Micarta and Elmax for hikes and light camping tasks, ZT 0566 for work and general beating and the Kizer Begleiter Mini Titanium BohlerM390 for date nights with the wife. I have two new additions on the way. The Boker Solingen side opening automatic Mini Redencion in Magnacut and the Flytanium Victorinox Cadet in jungle fat carbon fiber. Gave the Swiss knife shop exclusive Pioneer to my wife. Because you know... I'm just an amazingly magnanimous man... YEAH RIGHT!!! We all know I did it so I could justify the new cadet purchase 😂😂😂 I read the rules and I think I have a good grasp on them but being new I'm sure I might make a mistake or two so if I do just inform me and I'll do whatever I need to correct it.

Nope, no "Noob Forum".

As far as the "Want to Buy" sub-forum, anyone can start a thread there (click the orange "Post Thread" button in the upper right hand corner of the screen), but you have to be a Gold member or higher to see the threads. The reason for this is- one needs to be a Gold member or higher to engage in selling knives (or anything else) on this forum. And if anyone, of any membership level could see the threads in "Wanted", they could contact the people posting there and offer knives to sell them, and that would violate the rules of the forum.

If you start a thread in the "Wanted" sub-forum, and someone (Gold or higher) has the knife you're looking for, they can leave a message on your profile page. If that happens you will see a little red alert in the upper right hand corner of the screen where the bell symbol is, just like you'll see as a result of me quoting your post here.
