We were all new here once

I am new here as well. I just took a dremel to my Japan made older Cold Steel voyagers. The pocket clip was the molded plastic stuf that I broke off. My intent was to smooth out the sharp part that broke off but as you can see I made the knives more "grippy" and to me appealing. let me know what you guys think.

never mind cant paste this sux hahaha

This is my first week ever on any type of forum. So far the kindness and shear amount of knowledge on this forum is just amazing. Thank you all for being so welcoming!!!!

Hi All. I'm new here as well. Decided to get more intelligent by joining here. I paid $120 on a Delica Wave at the Puente Hills mall only to find it for $90 at the Plaza Cutlery at South Coast Plaza. Turns out I could have bought it for under $63 at Walmart online. I figure I can learn a lot from everyone's experiences here and try not to get swept off my feet by sales people selling sharp objects.

Very wet behind the ears noob here.

just acquired a Strider SMF NSN in a trade and am sort of blown away by it.
Never really put much though into knives until this one fell into my lap, but it convinced me to go out and learn some more.

Being a noob on the forums can be harsh at times. Bur, I'm glad to start to go on the forums to learn more about knives.

Well; I'm new to this forum but I'm not new to my blades and I wouldn't expect to be verbally crapped on by someone who uses a KA-BAR USMC knife because I prefer the SOG Seal Team Elite. They are both different knives for made different people in different environments for similar purposes but that doesn't mean either of us is wrong for choosing our preference. We might actually be able to learn off of one another and have quite a good chat providing both of us respect the other. New people, or people with less knowledge or skill with the courage to ask questions to gain knowledge should never be met with aggression or disrespect. The person with the most knowledge or experience can still learn from someone without it if they have a mutual respect for each other. The people who can-not accept those who have differing opinions to their own and can only shoot them down are in my opinion people not worth talking to. Everyone deserves a chance to learn and grow with respect; We are after all, all here for the same causes; Right?.

Paying more for the same knife might not be such a bad thing! Some stores get wholesale prices so they sell cheaper but some stores get "seconds" or "defective" knives and pass them off as top quality at "reduced" prices. Just my suggestion; Check it over very carefully and if you find no "defects" in the knife then be content that you still paid a good price for a good knife. It will always be cheaper somehere else.

I'm new here and this is my first post, I joined this forum to help figure out how to create better knife designs. Because i'm starting to make use of the autodesk programs I have and thus creating various designs here and there. And every now and than I'll be designing a knife and like anything I design if I can get it built I will and if i can sell it I will also.

Also here is my first finished knife design, it's a 8" tanto blade 12" overall that is meant to keep the features of a tanto but be a useable outdoor blade. http://s1261.photobucket.com/user/IvanKesja723/slideshow/Finish%20tanto

I think the design looks fairly solid TheSolitaryTraveller. Is the ridged design on the spine a thumb choke or a mini saw? The only thing I would do differently is add a finger choke to the edge side of the blade. Pretty sweet handle design too; I like the lanyard hole beibg offset and behind the handle rather than just a hole at the end of it.

that bit on the spine is the gimping, because i know some guys complain when there is none so i gave it a nice aggressive set of it. But ya that design with it's 1/4 inch thick blade should be able to take an unholy amount of punishment.

Welcome all! This is a great forum for all things SHARP!. I learn something new just about every time I log in.

I'm think 1075, but i'm not 100% sure. Because I want a steel that can hold and edge but able to take a beating without chipping or breaking, and of course not cost a lot. Plus i'm not sure because I have yet to dive much into the world of steel choices, which i know is a bottomless pit of information.

HI GUYS!! I'M NEW!! WHAT'S A KNIFE??

:p just kidding, folks! Put the knives a way... Dudes, put them up, I was kidding... Dudes... DUDES!!! Aw hell...:foot:

Yeah, I'm new here. I'm not exactly new to knives, but I'm not deep into them like y'all, and my research on a pocket tool brought me here, and I liked what I read.

So, yeah, you'll get a few dumb questions from me... But I give as good as I get, so beware... ;)

Thanks in advance for the welcomes and helps... Have a great one!

Tex

Misinformed purchases, knee jerk buying, silly questions ... I don't understand...

As an 18 year old newbie, I have never done such things! ;)

I appreciate you all a great deal. Thanks for keeping me interested and the atmosphere free. And, thanks for reading!

Hi. New here. Not new to knives though. I don't even know how many I've forgotten that I own. Every so often one will turn up that I had not seen in years in the most unexpected of places.

Hello.
I found this forum while researching a knife for hunting and camping. I have several folding pocket knives, a dedicated skinner that was passed down from my grandfather, and a Kershaw roughneck hunting knife that I've had since I was a kid, but nothing that was a great all-arounder. After a lot of research (a big chunk of it coming from this site) I ordered a Becker BK16 which should be on my doorstep today. I'm looking forward to using and modifying it to really make it my own.
While researching the knife I became interested in bushcrafting and primative/minimalist camping. I grew up hunting and camping here in the south and it's somthing I want to get back into.
