We were all new here once

Greetings,

I just joined this site and I was looking at a FMFBM knife in one of the forums. Can any one advise me if this knife is in production and the address of the forum that I was looking at ? I might buy one but I want it with a leather sheath. Someone ... talk to me.

Thanks,
MJ
I don't know what "FMFBM" means, but if you start a new thread below with your inquiry you might have a better chance of getting the answer your looking for as more people will see it. Not everyone looks up here at the stickies or reads this thread.

Good luck in your search. :)

Hello,

I'm somewhat new as well. I've been stalking and creeping around the forum for a while, finally decided to join. Great forum! Love it.

Current collection

Kershaw blur
Kershaw leek
Cold Steel Recon 1
KA-BAR
SOG Pentagon elite 1
SOG mini X-Ray Vision
SOG Trident Tanto Tini
SOG Flash 1 Tini, aluminum handle
SOG Seal Pup
Bear and Son Damascus double edge "fighting knife."
CRKT M16KT.

I was a SOG fanboy for a while, but no longer. I may pick up a benchmade barrage or mini barrage. Or maybe a ZT0350.

I've been on this forum before-but I lost my password years ago and since I want all of my usernames consistent across all sites, just decided to make a new profile so I understand how annoying repeated questions can be but that happens on every forum so it should be expected. I do think that some people really should describe their level of experience before asking questions related to professional knifemaking, embellishments, etc though otherwise such questions would be asked prematurely and negative responses would be understood-to some degree. I've been guilty of that-but I blame that on always getting ideas that's way out of my expertise.

I joined a few years ago and was put off by a member who seemed to want to instruct everyone on the proper use of the search engine feature. He seemed territorial like a loyal football fan who sleeps at the stadium.

I returned recently because of a renewed interest in traditional pocket knives.

So far, everyone seems helpful there.

Not new to knives, but new to the forum.

I have seen and used it all. My skills have taken me around the world multiple times and have paid the bills.

Looking forward to finding some new knives.

I'm new here and pretty new to knives ... so I really appreciate this post! I'm also pretty thick skinned and I'm used to how people like to treat newbies in the forums. I'm really looking forward to joining in on the conversations and thanks in advance to all you experts!

Registered almost a year ago, spent reading this forum. I've always loved knives, I collect and use them. Now I think it's time to discuss...
Thanks encouragement Killgar, really appreciated:thumbup:

You're welcome. And thank you. I'm glad to hear that my post proved to be of value.

Been lurking for quite some time. Found out about the forum through watching videos of multiple reviewers on YouTube. Been a knife and gun nut for many years and while I have bought and sold my fair share of knives over the years I am just recently getting back into them. I find knives, much like firearms, to be fascinating. While the idea of a knife is simple the execution of the crafting and the balance of form and function weigh heavily with me. Just like anything in this world what may work for some may not work for others and that is what I like about knives. There are so many out there to choose from that finding the "perfect" knife may take some time. Looking forward to meeting new people and reading all that the many members here have to contribute.

i am a newbie to the forums but i know my knives i spend most of my time learning about all cutlery whether it be just watching some nutnfancy to field testing my own knives to hanging at the local knife shop and talkin to the guys. so far i havent gotten a mean repplie:).

Hello all, I'm new here and found this sight while researching various knife related things. This site kept coming up in the results so here I am. I'm a 26 year old Montana man that loves guns and knives. Most of my collection is mainly huntig knives but have quite a few pocket knives. I'm quite knowledgeable about rifles and want to learn all I can about knives also. I'd love to find a few I can customize myself like hanging the scales and just in general, making it my own.

I'm new here, but not new to forums by any stretch of the imagination. I know how it goes. Sometimes I'll spend an entire afternoon kindly answering the "stupid questions" that usually just get some clever JPG of a search bar for a reply. We all gotta learn sometime. Pretty cool that this thread is a sticky, I like yous guys already!

This is as good a place as any for my first post. I hang back and read quite a bit but don't tend to post a lot. I've got a very small collection that isn't worth much in terms of $$ but priceless with the stories that go with them when I give them to my son. I'll eventually get around to posting a pic or two of them. As for thick skin, I'm in the wrong line of work if that bothers me ;)

The cherished memories that accompany a knife are worth far more than any "super steel", expensive brand name, or latest "fad" knife that comes along. Despite owning several expensive, modern folders, the Buck 110 I've owned and used for 33 years is the only priceless knife I own. That knife and I have had a long and rewarding journey together.

Hey guys. Came across this forum while researching a Voss knife that has no markings to distinguish it really and was excited. I have several knives, most 70's model unused Case, etc but some I'm not as familiar with or how to identify such as voss and Kissing Crane. Hopefully you guys can point me in the right direction to get more info on them. Where should I post pictures and basic info I have to learn more?

There is a sub-forum here specifically for identifying knives. If you look under the page counter at the lower right hand corner of the screen, you will see a "Quick Navigation" box with "General Knife Discussion" in it, click on that to activate the scroll-down menu, scroll down just a little until you see "Bernard Levine's Knife Collecting" and click on that. That's the place to get knives identified. But just so you know, unless you are a paid "gold" member here you aren't allowed to ask how much a knife is worth.
