We have hired a new VP of Marketing. His name is Dave Visnack and he has extensive background in E-commerce.

One of his key projects is finetuning our website. As you guys are Alpha-male-consumers with extensive web experience and are all highly opinionated, :) I would love to get your feedback on what is great and what is lacking on our website. Also if you could share other websites, knives or otherwise, that really impressed you.

Dave starts next tuesday (he is moving to Idaho as we speak) so we have not put the budget and timeline to the website project yet, but that gives this thread some time to mature and be a real strategic help.

thanks for your comments.

I took the "Virtual Plant Tour" the other day...Very nice...Only improvement I would suggest is to make all those thumbnail pictures clickable to full size images...There's a lot going on there that I would like a closer look at... ;)

Oh - and a Table of Contents [ in the Plant Tour], with links, so we could find our place without clicking all the way through every time... :)

...And Merry Christmas!!!... :D

I like the website for the most part,my only complaint is the custom shop needs updating with better imaging of what handlesa really look like, the pics do the actual knives little justice!

RAZORBLADES, kinda beat me to it, I was gonna say a larger "what it will look like" picture on the build your own 110 page.

The "Quick Find" function has definately gotten better...You can plug in a model number now and get a result... :)

Might be an idea to add the discontinued models to the database, along with a "Discontinued" tag...We get a lot of threads here about someone remembering an old Buck, but not knowing what it was...Pictures would be nice...maybe even a "Discontinued Models" section...searchable... :)

The option to pay using PayPal would be great!

Thats what I was thinking. The world of cheaper buck knives be open to the likes of me and to be able to order from the custom shop. Not just me but others in Europe too.

Most people have a paypal account... dead easy to pay for things with it. Personally I would not mind one bit paying a surcharge to use Paypal.

Plus we sell on Ebay.. the money goes into out paypal account. Then if we transfer into our regular bank accounts then it costs us to do so. This way.. we sell the better half's jewellery and then buy a custom Buck 110 with the proceeds :D :D :D :D

I'd like to see multiple hi-res images, covering different angles, the back side of the blade. It might be nice to be able to select download speeds so the guy on dial-up and the guy on cable can select image sizes.

I don't know if this is the right venue, but since Buck does knives in CPM154 and S30V, why not make those steels available to the Buck Custom Knife Shoppe. A custom 193 Alpha Hunter can be had in steels not available to the 110 buyer even though 110's have been made in those steels.

yes it would be nice if bcci members could purchase direct from bucks website and have paypal as an option
and a library of past models compete with pictures would be a good thing as well
and of course the customs shop should have damascus and s30v available at all times and it would be nice if the models available were increased
to include the 500 and 100 seriess at least and the 186 titanium should be brought back with selector type blades for it

A pictorial portfolio of custom shop work would be great. Pictures of all different types of steels and handle combinations with the pictures labled identifying the materials. With a little creativity you could make that portfolio interactive so that you could gain feedback from the vistors and use that as inexpensive, continuing market research.

I would like to see some knives back on the "Special" page. I check it four or five times a day. :D

Other than that I like the website.

Yep, what Chuddy said.
Website format seems fine overall. Just would like to see steel selections on the Custom page kept current (i.e.; BG-42?).

If you haven't noticed by now, I want to order a 110 BG-42 but don't want another steel substituted without given a choice first.
