Website Feedback

It might be out of place here, but since this thread is for the new VP of Marketing, I thought I'd ask. Buck has produced the 110 in CPM S30V (Cabela) and CPM154 (Bass Pro); why are those steels not offered on 110's ordered from the Custom Shoppe?

Right now both the steel is limited to ATS-34, BG-42, Damascus (occassionally) and four versions of 420HC. The newer CPM steels are more expensive than the older steels, but the Custom Shoppe can charge as necessary to cover the cost.

Handle choices are much better, but even there I'd like to see some additions such as Desert Ironwood.

ras,
I wonder if Buck has an "exclusivity" agreement with Cabellas and BPS. Those are big retail outlets. They could demand concessions.

Possibly, for a period of time. A large order to Cabela's or Bass Pro means a lot more on the bottom line than a smaller number of individual knife orders from guys like us. Still, the custom shop isn't being very custom with such a limited selection, the excellent workmanship notwithststanding.

Bufford,
I think you misread the topic in this thread. The issue has to do with changes to the Buck knife website, not this forum.
Mike

Yes I most certainly goofed. I can see the day when I need to upgrade to knifemaker status, but it will have to wait for now. :foot:

Thanks for the feedback so far. I like the comments. Our new Marketing VP starts on Tuesday and I will print this thread for him to review.

I do not have a time frame on complete overhauls but small improvements may happen immediately.

thanks again and keep on sharing

CJ;

I would to see a couple new features on the web site. First Sarah should get her own page listing some of the items for sale in the factory shop. I know you already have the specials section, but I suspect it takes a lot of time and effort, along with some quantity of product before a knife gets listed on the specials page. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, it could just be a list of the knife models for sale. But what it needs to be is consistant. Updated every monday or every other monday, heck on the 15th and 30th. Give me and every one else who is interested in Buck knives a reason to keep checking Buck's web site.

Give me a reason to keep hunting in all your smaller dealers stores. When I use the dealer look up feature on your site have it generate a coupon for x dollars off a purchase of a Buck knife from that dealer. I'm not talking about coupons for the big retailers, I am trying to drive traffic and sales into Bob's bait shop.

Hey-ho-a-leena!
That's a great idea. Buck needs to inject some marketing (which their hiring of a Mkt VP shows they know) and give smaller dealers incentive to keep the Bucks on the shelves.

There is a discussion elsewhere on Blade Forum about Kershaws new web site. I thought there was some relavance to this thread:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=444729

I don't even know where to start on Kershaw's website. I don't like anything about it. Navigation bar/box disappears after one option is selected, stuff is hidden until "found," no pictures until you get to a results list, and everything is shrunken into a small window. I guess that's a start.

Almost everything about it is the opposite of what I would want.

...What Carl said...

True...at least now they have TEXT on the website and you can actually search for something. It used to just be what looked like catalog scans. Someone at Kershaw clearly had the wrong idea about the Internet.

Maybe already stated. Buck bucks....gift certificates in dollar amounts
usuable on the Buck web site or phone in orders,or Buck factory store.
Instead of how much you want to spend let your kids, spouse, parents,
friends buy you Buck bucks$$$$.Then you can do the shopping.

Here's a constructive suggestion for the Custom Shoppe 110 (if no one else has suggested it) - how about the option of deleting the nail nick???

This one works alot better :D thanks Trax :D
I agree with it also!! Better pics of what to expect would be great!
That Fiji orangewood looks awesome in Guyons pics, but I didnt order it on the Buck website when I bought mine because it didnt look like that!
Could be my monitor too I guess...

I agree James...
Never would I have ordered a creamsicle if I had not seen Guyon's and just went based on the Buck site.
Same with their preview of the indigo. Didn't like it until I saw a pic of ZZJAKE's with NS.
