weird noise coming from ZT 0560 *Normal for this model*

Apparently their conclusion is that the noise is from the bearings. I don't buy it. I say loose tolerances. It's hard to trust Kershaw. I sent a blur to them once complaining about the blade being off center and hitting the side of the handle. The pivot did nothing for it. They sent me the blade back and simply adjusted the pivot to where it was barely rubbing. It soon turned back to rubbing after use; which is the reason why I sent it to them in the first place. I don't know. Their customer service left a bad taste in my mouth.

On a side note; I requested the contact information to an immediate supervisor, or manager on four separate emails. All of which were ignored, but the rep continued to rant about his own beliefs. His statement about the issue also was supported by zero facts other than to say it's because of the bearing system.

i had a little rattle and it was my pocket clip. when the knife is open and the lock bar is engaged it was slightly rattling against the lock bar.

This is not the pocket clip. The funny thing is the rep told me he had several people check my knife, and that's the conclusion that they came up with. Why wouldn't he have said he checked several other knives...It's almost like some of them do it, some don't.

When I have had problems with fit or finish of an item I usually was able to return it for replacement from the place I bought it from. Was there a reason you couldn't return it?

I thought Kershaw would be able to square it away, since they made it.

In this instance there isn't anything wrong so nothing to square away.

It is disappointing the way that your issue with the blur was handled though. That would have left a bad taste in my mouth also.

I understand you want the manufacturer to handle it but I bet it would have been handled faster if you dealt with the place you bought it from. If I buy a TV and in the first few days of owning it something happens I am going back to the store I bought it from instead of waiting for the manufacturer's warranty service. Of course, anything after 30 days I am going to the manufacturer.

Either way, I think the Kershaw reps that are on the forum will try to do what they can to make you happy.

I don't think that I can think of a single functional problem on your knife that would be indicated by your rattling noise. So why does it matter if it is a bearing, or a stop pin, or a whacha-ma-callit? If you are that unsettled by the noise then take the knife apart and find out what it is. Your knife has something like a whole eight parts not counting screws so I think you can probably figure it out.

I don't want to jeopardize the warranty. I told the gentleman through email that I do not want the knife back. I requested to send one that doesn't rattle. If I had the time, I'd call them to get it ironed out. Perhaps on my day off I might get somewhere by calling. The noise sounds like something is off. I paid a lot for this knife....If it were a part of the design you would hear more talk about it. What makes me kind of irritated is the fact that I requested to have a supervisor contact me, or give me their extension so that I may contact them, about four different times. All of which were ignored by this Kershaw employee, as he continued to handle it in a way in which he sees fit.

I don't feel it's unreasonable. What ever happened to the customer is always right?

So apparently the knife was shipped anyway. The rep did state to send it back and they'll send another one, and that the new one will rattle too. I shouldn't have to bare the cost of return shipping twice.

So if you get a supervisor and they tell you that the rattling is fine then what? Also, the customer is very often wrong.

Put a drop of blue lock tite on the stop pin (Disabling a feature that slows wear on the knife...)
Unbunch panties
Problem solved

Why should a company undo a preventative wear feature, making their product less effective as the tool it is designed to be, for a user?

But if you think you handled that in a mature and reasonable manner, I doubt any of us will convince you otherwise, so party on.

Mine doesnt rattle, so its obviously not a functional property of the stop pin or else everyone would experience a rattle. I'd prob be pissed too if I spent $260 and had a flaw that others didnt have to deal with.

That doesn't really follow. Just because yours and some others doesn't rattle doesn't mean those that do are not functioning properly.

Anyway, I agree with everyone else. Throw some locktite on it, and it will stop rattling.

Thanks Huntbomb....Some rattle, some don't? If it were design it would be all of them.....

Seems to me that this kind of customer service isn't something I'd want to deal with. But, maybe, according to you, as a customer I'm probably wrong.

I've been considering a ZT for a while, but this thread has put me off.

Try reading through the 999 other cases where everything was above and beyond. Just sayin'.

LOL ya, I'm sure that this complaint from this paranoid guy has put you off from buying ZT. If you compiled all the paranoid complaints from all the knife makers you would have no companies to buy from. This guy won't be happy till ZT picks him a knife that doen't make any noise because in his mind if it makes noise its somehow broken. Doesn't matter if its a bearing, or a floating stop pin, or what ever. In his mind knives that rattle are broken. My advice to duro would be to A. start buying cheap Spydercos because no one seems to complain about them, and B. to NEVER buy an Emerson because I'm afraid he will have a heart attack.
