weird noise coming from ZT 0560 *Normal for this model*

Hang on, the torsion bars in a few of my Kershaws have rattled, only when in open position. If it bothers you contact their CS, it's the best in the business.

I would contest that. I've had two horrible experiences with Kershaw.

In fact, the local knife store that I make most of my purchases from has had to stop carrying all KAI USA products due to the poor service from a specific Kershaw representative (I won't say who).

For the record the store I'm referring to is one of the most reputable in Canada and their name is tossed around here on the forums all the time.

Sorry, not trying to derail the thread or anything, but you went there and I thought I might as well share the other perspective.

Kinda does derail cuz I'd like to know the details of that knife store and how KAI couldn't make it right. I don't know who the rep in question is and I don't really know Thomas, but from what I have seen on the forums he is pretty blunt and some people can't deal with that. I have seen many times that Thomas has made things right and it makes me feel comfortable buying his company's products.

I hate to sound like a cheerleader but I dig KAI's stuff and I've been treated well. Perhaps my expectations aren't as high because I know these knives are production knives and won't be perfect. I've bought a knife that was defective on arrival and was returned for a replacement to the dealer. I've broke or bent pocket clips and received replacements sight unseen. I've watched things unfold on this website and others and it seems like some people will never be happy. I am glad in this case, in this thread, the issue was resolved. I am also just sharing my perspective.

What happened with your last run in with Spyderco's CS that made it great? Your previous thread seems like just complaining that they could only offer you MSRP since it's discontinued. I'm talking about this thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...Search-Continues-for-a-Side-Opening-Automatic . Did they give you that free Military you said you were going to demand along with your knife back?.

No Military. But they did however keep the knife and issue a refund. With that refund I was able to purchase a Citadel through the forums that did not have an issue with the safety.

Mr. Thomas W, Should I send back the 0560, or let you put an ad up for sale with all proceeds going to Hanna, and mail it out to someone. Let me know the logistics when you have the time.

Apparently the 0560 is already in the mail.

Sincerely,

Erik

This model (0560-61) has had more nitpicking done about it on these forums, than any other knife, that I can recall.
Mine came and I couldn't be more pleased with it. Everything works the way it should. Maybe if I tried hard I could find something about it to gripe about.:o

Sure you're not trying to derail...and when speaking "for the record", you better have more specific facts than your post above.

Do the forum a favor and keep to what you know not what you've heard. It makes you sound...bad. If your favorite dealer is so upset he can make posts for himself. Matter of fact he has addressed this issue here on BF's a few years back. So unless he lied, just like the last one of his customers did that spoke on his behalf about this very subject, you need to retract and move on.

Now go start a new thread called "Thomas and Kai USA don't like my favorite dealer"...but it has no business being discussed here in this one. Off you go...

Thank you Jill.

duro, if you can send back the 0560 here to the factory, I'll take it from there.

Well, I did rap it against my knuckles when opened, (the backside of the blade) and it hurt my knuckles. Should it do that?

I just popped in on this page but d*mn, the sound is normal, within specs, should be sent back to the customer with that explanation (probably already done?). Just my $.02, ymmv

Torsion bar sounds? Big deal, time to take the side plate off, clean her up and lube the little cut out where it lays - problem solved. I'm not even an "avid" Kershaw fan and have only owned about 8 KAI knives in my life but these are some good knives and maintenance on them is a breeze. There's even videos posted on how to do it.

I don't believe in addressing any Kershaw warranty issues in an online forum anyhow. if Thomas is "blunt" maybe it's because he shouldn't have to field those kind of things here, that's what the warranty department is for. Kershaw has come through for me on a few occasions and it was basically a no questions asked kind of thing. That is my opinion on their service and from what I have read over the years on these forums; it's the opinion of many more.

We're talking specifically about the models that have the KVT bearing system. Thanks though.

Yes, I own a 560 as well.
My comment was sarcastic in the sense that I find this whole discussion silly.

Thanks though.

Nice to see Thomas and Kershaw coming through with above and beyond CS, yet again. Fine company. I think a 560 or 561 might just have to be my next folder purchase.

.

This knife store stopped carrying your knives recently, not "a few years back."
You've made a number of assumptions here: one, that I was referring to you. And two, the specific store I was talking about.

Look, I'm not trying to be hostile here, and I would really appreciate it if you did the same. But the fact is, that the topic of Kershaw customer service was addressed in this thread. So what I'm saying is relevant. If the OP is trying to inform himself here on the forums, then he should get both sides shouldn't he? Isn't that fair?

furthermore, it should be obvious by now that there are in fact problems. If I was representing a highly-regarded knife company and something negative was mentioned about its poor customer service, then I would certainly be more interested in trying to mitigate the problem, rather than aggressively shutting down the customer. And yes, I am a customer. I have several Kershaws. Some of which I like very much.

But I don't represent a large knife company like Kershaw, so what do I know, right?

So duro, how bout we do this. You send your knife back, and I'll donate it to Hanna http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/975724-Pocket-Dump-for-Hanna-on-the-Exchange-Help-to-raise-funds

I'll personally hand pick a 0561 and send it to you. We'll both hope it "sounds" right, and you can move forward with enjoying the piece. If you would rather get a different knife to avoid the "sound" issue, no prob, let me know what it is. If your want your money back, please let me know that as well, and I'll get a check plus $50 for your time and trouble. Sound fair?

Now THAT is some customer service, and THAT is the reason I will continue to give Kershaw/ZT a lot of my business. Class act.
