Just wanting to say I'm happy for the upgrade to Xenforo and thanks for all the work that went into making this happen Spark. Once folks get used to the change they'll wonder why they ever complained.

Search result display

I would like default search results to be sorted by date, not by relevance, and listed as threads like in the old system. Or, is there a way to customize the search engine?

Thanks I figured it out. Just didn't have it configured right.
 
Could we please get a "EXCHANGE" button up the top bar instead of clicking everything trying to find it. It seems hidden and it's a major part of the forum. In between Forum and Media would be perfect.

Or at least let us "watch" the Exchange so I can find it. I've been "watching" all the forums I visit so I can find them. The whole scrolling thing is a joke.

It's been a long few days, but I'm pretty happy.

Quick things:

You'll notice there's a ton of new features.
  • Members with paid subscriptions now have access to creating Media Galleries where they can display things.
  • You can also create "Resources" to share knowledge, tutorials, tips & tricks and more.
  • If you put @ in front of someone's username, they will be alerted that you mentioned them. Don't do this to bug the moderators unless it's important.
  • You can "tag" and "like" threads.
  • Facebook & Twitter & Google accounts have been integrated - you can associate your profile with them and share posts directly to your various profiles, or use those accounts to log in.
  • Private messaging has now become "Conversations" - private messages from before the move are still separated out as individual replies, but from today forward if you message someone, it will be a threaded conversation. PM quotas have been increased vastly as a result.
  • Attachments work much better, and attachment quotas have greatly increased.
  • You can "watch" threads and be alerted when stuff happens.
SERIOUSLY, take some time to familiarize yourself with all the new controls.

Things I'm still working on:
  • Compact forum display. I hate all this scrolling on the front page. I'm sorry you have to see it for now. I'm going to install a few different styles for the forums to compact things, but I felt it was more important to open the forums for access since it'd been three days.
  • Site portal & Featured threads. I'm working on an add on to aggregrate threads so that you get a listing of recent threads on the home page. In addition, quality threads will be "Featured", which should be interesting for KnifeMakers & knife reviewers.
  • FAQ & Site Rules have to be completely rebuilt. Not a big deal. The Rules for the exchange are still posted, and things are pretty intuitive.
  • Tapatalk is currently disabled. It's last on my priority list.
  • Advertising is currently disabled, but will be coming back. Expect some weirdness as I experiment.
More later.

BUGS / ISSUES LIST:
  • Exchange area permissions - Exchange should be good to go
  • "Cove" not visible - What cove?
  • Mods have limited access - FIXED
  • Private message boxes filled. Workaround - select "Leave Conversation" or prune some of your older messages.
  • Exchange was allowing BTT - Fixed
  • Political Forum not working correctly
  • API error reported when attempting to purchase membership - Fixed
  • Archives permissions allowed posting & editing - Fixed
  • Stickies needed highlighting - Fixed
  • Gold members were able to lock / unlock ANY thread. - H/T @Rat Finkenstein, now fixed.

If you have questions or important issues, PLEASE POST THEM. I want to triage the important stuff, long time members please help me find & fix issues. Please don't use this thread for joking around until the major fires are put out.

everytime I choose delete conversation, the overlay closed.
and the conversation still there.

Thank you, Spark. It now shows results sorted by date but as individual posts, not as threads. Can you change it, too?
When searching in a forum, a checkbox saying "Display results as threads" appears in the search dialogue. This option is not available in the front page.

For everyone that have a problem with the forum colors, I use a plugin/addon called "Care your eyes" in Chrome, this
gives me custom colors or night mode(black background, white text),, you could try that, and you can change the font size in your browser.

Example night mode.

All looks great. Does anyone know how to change the display theme? On the former BF software setup, I had it set to "dark" mode... easier on my eyes. I can't seem to find that option anywhere. Thanks.

EDIT: Just saw the post above. Came in while I was typing. Not sure how to do this but seems there should be a built in option if possible.

Yes, built in is nice, but my solution works for all the internets, not just here! :D

Spark has said he's adding more themes.
