Thanks for the tip, I didn't know that.

And make sure you are logged in case you switch between phones, tablets and work PCs... i was told there was somebody who was refreshing the locked thread and wondered once it unlocked where the quick reply box went :D

Haha yeah it's usually the simplest thing first when things go wrong!

A tip for fast refreshes:

Once you've read the preview post, picked out the knives you're shooting for, copied the text you're going to post, and are waiting for the thread to unlock: turn off images in your browser.

I'm not sure what browser folks are using, or if it's even possible on tablets, phones, etc. But I'm guessing most have an option to do that. It might be hidden away in some advanced settings or in the "Developer" menu.

That sticky thread is critical for understanding the system. Read it!

Thanks yeah I have. I was just curious on the exact mechanics of the refresh button versus trying to post a quick reply in the locked thread by watching the clock. Sounds like everyone just uses the refresh button.

That's a great tip Thurin, thank you! I hadn't thought about that but I know how to do that on my browser.

I am far too technologically ignorant to figure out how this is done. I've just spent my lunch break messing with my computer. Any tips on this?

what browser and operating system are you on?

Insider tip. You can turn off images and signatures on BF settings.

Cool yeah that works too! One thing I noticed in comparing the two with using the BF settings options to turn off images you still get some images like peoples profile pics. When you turn off images in the browser settings you get no images. So possibly the browser option would refresh a little bit quicker. The BF settings option though I'm sure is still quicker than having all images on and is very convenient.
