Well...It's Friday...

the handle on the newer one fits my hand much better, I received a PM from the fella that snagged the last one and it said "melts into the hand"

I'm definitely gonna keep my eyes out for one of these that I like as well. Hopefully a scandi one.

Out of curiosity, do you have a preference between the new EDK's and the Old School Karda? I really like my OS Karda so I'm really interested in the new ones but I'd like any opinion on one vs the other. Thanks.

I prefer the OSKs for pocket carry, light utility/EDC in general. The EDK and the BCK just seem like they'd be killer at whittling but in order to give them any substantial use, I feel like I'd have to find the time to add that as a hobby. I'm sure it would be an enjoyable past time but these darned kids take up so much time. lol

I have a mental hang up when it comes to knives with handles that are a good bit longer than the blades. I know it makes them great utilitarian tools and all, and if I still did trim work, I;d probably have one on my tool belt. But aesthetically I am personally just not drawn to them for edc carry. I much prefer the Bushboot for edc and so far the Lonestar is the only exception fr edc for me with the much longer handle. I gues the attitude makes up for it :) Where the EDK did excel for me however, was in the field, especially in the winter, when paired with a larger tool. It is just awesome for making small field expedient tools, utensils, and trap triggers and components. It's sort of like a miniature Kephart for finer more detailed work.

I said that. I had been looking for an EDC that I could throw in my pocket. I've bought/tried the FF Esquire, and the Surls Patch--while both great knives they did not give me the feeling of the clouds parting and the sun shining through. The moment I put the EDK in my hand that's the feeling I got. Now I am just waiting for the slip sheath I ordered from Rick Lowe to arrive next week so I can start carrying.

And I also need to decide what to do with the Esquire and Patch.

This is definitely my thoughts on the OS Karda and mainly what I use it for. I definitely like it in that role. I would think that the EDK and BCK would make great companion knives to the larger knives that I carry when in the woods all day, especially multiple days.

This is exactly what I was thinking. I don't mind when there's more handle then blade and at times I even prefer it. Especially, like you said, when they're in utility roles. When I'm out for long times in the woods I usually carry at least 2 knives. Especially when it's multiple days which, sadly, hasn't happened in a while. Usually the smaller knife does a lot of the work and the larger knife is a bit of piece of mind. At least until I need a decent size fire. I would think that the EDK or BCK would make a great 2nd knife or possibly even a 3rd. I've been looking at them for a while but haven't been able to pull the trigger. :D

Well, since that old school one doesn't fit your hand as well, you just let me know when you're ready to unload the top one in this pic. I could be persuaded!

but more than likely it's going to hang around. i really like buying the older stuff.

Oh I know. You're a sucker for collecting that stuff like I am. I was going to send Onedog a message telling him there's not a chance!

You keep that brother. You deserve it.

Lol. I knew I had no chance when I saw it posted in the flea market and I certainly knew I had no chance limping in with a dibs call. [emoji3]

I have not had much luck grabbing an Old School Ladyfinger so far. If the Navy burlap one is 3/32", I'll have to make a go at it. One of these weeks it may actually work out that I get a good connection speed...
