well today is officially the worst day i have had in a whyle!!!!

Call into work tomorrow, sick with grief of loosing a new Junglas. Get back out there.

Hmm. That sucks. I hope you can find it. I still say its worth backtracking for another look. In the bush I make a habit of physically checking my gear, including my knife, every so often. Especially after moving through heavy brush or boulder hopping, water crossing etc. It has become almost an automatic motion. Something to think about.

If I lost my Junglas ??? Don't know how I'd take it. I'd positively be back out there looking again I know that much. Good Luck.

Oh...don't get me wrong ill be going back!!! The part that sucks is starting tomorrow at 6am were getting more snow!! Weather man says another 5" to 8" of snow :(

Damn, that sucks.... I would feel like crap if I lost my Izzy, let alone a Junglas!

don't feel too bad, i can't tell you how many people lose their rifles and stuff out on land navigation courses and patrols through the woods. your mind gets focused on something like plotting your next point and next thing you know.....

two things here i can suggest.

#1 buy an operator style belt from a good company. i have a desantis. but 511 and a few other companys offer these. 1.5" nylon, goes through buckle and lays back over itself with velcro. i always wore leather but when i tried this one i will not go back. it will not stretch, and once it is cinched down will not move.

#2 i prefer to wear carhartt carpenters because the junglas slides down in the hammer loop and rides well. i do not have the factory sheath, but the kydex i made is about the same size as the factory.

#1a- as a side note* the velcro is akward in public restrooms as it may make others think you are wearing adult diapers.....

So....today I decided to go on a walk on some trails I frequent as well as others. I had my esee junglas on my side and low and behold uppon my arival back to my car I realized I didn't have it on my side because my belt apparently snapped! What a kick in the teeth right so I back tracked to find some young kids walking on the trail. I walked back over 2 miles and gave up! My suspicion is that potentially the kids found it and wanderd off. Or its still somewhere out there either way I lost my favorite knife and that's a horrible feeling!!! I know now not to buy cheap walmart leather belts fml! I now know how the other members feel that lost quality blades.

Sorry man, but IMHO your story sounds like BS. If my junglas fell off of MY leg i WOULD notice just like i would notice if someone slapped me in the face.

I do not believe you one bit.If you honestly had that knife on your leg, on your belt and you lost it while hiking on a trail..well..lesseon learned.

If you are telling the truth, which i highly doubt, i am sorry for your loss.

PS: ESEE knives do not get warrantied for misplacement or total loss. ALSO>>>the reason for my frustration is that this is the second post like this in the ESEE forum in January regarding knives that mysteriously fell from a users belt...sounds like crap to me.

Yeah that's me looking for a free hand out, well my friend you have some nerve! Im not looking for simpathy or anything of the sort. I was aggravated so I thought I would vent now that being said im sorry I did! Had I known people would be trash talking me for the fact that I lost somthing I would have never made this thread!

That sucks man. I understand what you are saying about not noticing with all of the layers and the cold. I lost a belt ax under these same conditions once. My wife asked me the same thing: You mean you didn't notice when that huge thing fell off of your belt? Good luck, hope you find it!

GET A BETTER BELT!
The Wilderness Instructor belts look bomber, sound bomber, and everybody seems to like them. Not very subtle, though. But a good price.

For a little more, you can get all the performance of the WIB, but more subtle, in a Maxpedition Liger. I have one that is about 5, maybe 6 years old, that looks like the day I bought it. It has had a lot of guns, knives, etc. hung off it, and it hasn't sagged a bit. At this rate, I'm beginning to think it will outlast my children.

Remember the saying, with quality gear, buy once, cry once.

For every bad thing that happens, I'd like to think we can learn a little something. With heavy gear riding on your belt, being either a large knife or gun, I would definitely get a more serious belt. I have a Spec Ops BDU belt, and a fairly heavy leather belt. I also have a rigger's belt if I need something really stout.
