Whacha Been Up To......

Here is a horizontal belt carry sheath (right or left) I worked up for a mini bog oak/antler/damascus viking knife by Fay Forge.

My 3rd successful leather project. A bit crude in the execution (still on the up hill side of the learning curve for leather work) but geez it does the job pretty well!

The red lace is leather cord.

got this knife and sheath finished up. Tried some new things with the sheath and I feel like it turned out not too bad

Thanks it’s pretty thick leather so it was tough to form especially when I am still healing from the bad cut on my right hand

Well, I tried my hand at a wallet. A simple vertical bi-fold. It’s not as easy as they look! 🤣😂

First try…

Second try…

Still not where I’d want my work to be, but they are now out in the wild for some feedback in a few months.

Both recipients were happy, so that’s all I can hope for.

This one was the second attempt at it as it was what was discussed in the 'mistake thread' first pass as the cut out piece it was just a hair too narrow, this knife has a wide base and while it 'looked' like it would cover and be ok...it wasn't ;) so another piece of leather cut out and formed to make this one. The knife widens out near the end of the handle so the amount of handle sticking out was necessary in order to get the knife into the sheath but that's fine as it provides enough of the knife to be able to draw it out.

Knife snaps into the sheath very securely, no way that it would ever fall out due to the way it was wet formed and stitched up. The burgundy dye worked well, and I chose some 1.2mm Orange Tiger thread for contrast, first time using the orange, kinda like it ;)
