Just looking through here for the first time in ages .
That 3rd pic of the wooden handled knife really caught my eye , don't know why considering the other beauties you make .
Hope all is good and happy in your neck of the woods .

Last I heard you had retired from the day job , is that correct ?
I haven't done any knife related leatherwork for a long time now .
Have made the daughter a few wallets / purses etc , but my leatherwork just sort of dried up because I basically just carry folders with pocket clips now .
I will have to make myself another beltless sheath / pouch that I carry a lighter and flashlight in at work because the original one has seen some life and has started to go " Hell West and Crooked "
What knife is your current flavour of the week ?

Nice! Glad to see you are making good use of them!

Thank you sir and good to hear from you. Thats mesquite from an old board given to me by a furniture maker in Mexico.

A few more days and you will be a Master Leather worker baxtrom baxtrom ;) Those are really nice.
Good on you!
Thanks, I expect it to take at least a week 😂

Also I ordered an edge beveler and a set of those fork-looking tools for making holes for stitches. I found it somewhat difficult to make the stitches look good using an awl, especially on the back side, hope to improve that. For now I’m only showing the front side of my sheaths here😉.

Very nice
I’m aiming at making something like this for my ka bar 1271 fighter, which came with a rather tacky sheath. I just need to master the art of leather crafting first 😉
Thank you 👍🙂

In the sticky section of this forum, look at the tutorial & WIP thread. Scroll down to the tutorial by nick681 nick681 I found it very helpful when I started. Plus it should work well for the build your planning 👍

I had to make myself a stitching pony. I have at least 3 sheaths coming up and so I decided this was a well needed extra hand. Basic model but I can always modify if needed. Had to start with something. Will get a good trial this week.

^ I don't know - it looks a little too nice to be used. But it sure looks like it will work nicely.

Ha Ha , thanks. Used it today and I was quite happy with it. I found I don't need to clamp it to the bench and that actually being loose to move around was useful. Maybe more useful than having a tilting mechanism on it. First impressions anyway...

I wanted to try a slip for this new slim trapper that I've been enjoying. It's nice, keeps it upright in the pocket. Nothing fancy.

This Schrade was like ten bucks. It had awful rubber scales and a nylon sheath. Now it's Ebony and leather. Good practice.
