Hi All -
Once again I humbly join this thread with my own work. I depend on you all for guidance and mostly inspiration. Still aspiring to produce a great leather sheath. In the meanwhile I play and experiment and so I share my "progress". Your comments or critiques are most welcome. These are humbling projects.
Remember this one from page 137?

I decided that it was too eccentric for most people. The knife not really big enough to be a true SEAX and so this horizontal carry sheath a bit impractical and after all, not much of a user.
Revisited this week. Going for a more normal vertical belt carry. How to do that with a fully assembled sheath???
This is my "upgrade".

I like it. Easier carry for a 5-1/2" blade and doesn't come across as a desperate for attention affectation.

A celebration of rivets. Here is the back side too with some repurposed parts from the first effort.

Still a struggle for me to keep my leather clean - oh well - in time... At least the knife fits well and is secure.
Cheers ~
Thanks, I really enjoy working with it.Very nice. Really clean. Horsehide makes a great holster or sheath.
Yep in the past Iβve used it for holsters, sheaths and spurstraps as well as misc items. Makes superior headstalls for riding. Currently we use it for IWB holsters. Thanks, I really enjoy working with it.
Recently I redid the fittings of this German clip-point "gaucho knife" sheath:

The chape was missing and the throat was broken badly. The latter seems to be made of lead, but I used nickel silver instead. I only attached the new fittings mechanically, so I can return the sheath to its "original" state if I want to. More pictures of the knife can be found in the recent "Gaucho knives" thread (pages 25 and 26).
Very fancy !!!!!! I like it
