Whacha Been Up To......

I just finished up this one for my swamp rat Desert Patrol. Finishing the inside edges around the cutout for the strap is a real pain in the neck. I think I need to make something to handle that chore. The wooden burnisher I have is a bit too big for the job. I’m thinking about making making a small one from a hardwood dowel.

Very nice! Yes I keep a hardwood dowel around for such chores. The other option is to change your design to eliminate such spots. I think a lot of pattern development evolves/revolves around simplification.

Thanks!. Good point about simplification. My focus on the two recent ones. (aside from practicing all the basics) was mainly the belt loop being skived, folded inside, and stitched with the welt. I will definitely be thinking about the strap component more in the next build.

Thank you, Bill!

It is a bit of a blessing, no doubt about that. The more I make, the more it seems the first works out how I was hoping.

How’s things?

I’m finding that myself, my first attempt to pattern are getting better. Although thick blades still throw me a curve ball here and there lol.
Things are good , just need to figure out how to build sheaths faster lol.
