Wharncliffe Delica - any interest? (Pics)

Thanks for posting the video, Jazzz. The knife appears to have proven very useful for many common tasks. I wonder how much of the knife's cutting prowess could be attributed to the steel type? I have a Benchmade w/ S30V steel and a rather toothy edge: it is my sharpest knife. Does Japan have a steel equivalent to S30V? I'm really hoping this one makes it to production.

You know, I think I like VG10 better. The edge cuts better. Maybe it's my imagination.

I was pretty much sold from the pics, but the video has really put this over the top. Very nice!

Why this didn't show earlier, I have no idea, but this saves you some time.

Although it may be a long shot, I'd love to see it in hap40. I've fell in love with that steel. Sharpens easy and holds an edge a lot longer than vg10 for what I do with it.

I would grab one. Also, I know it wouldn't be offered in 110V, but that steel is perfect for the kind of tasks I think Jazz using it for...ya, S110V for me on this would be perfect. In the real world I think S30V would work out just fine - or how about a clad HAP40.

VG-10 would suit me fine. Given the video, I think I may have to pony up for a FFG or two and send them to Charlie Mike for the wharnie treatment. Many thanks to jazzz for linking that!

EDIT: CM can do many great mods to a knife, but he can't grow steel where there wasn't any to begin with. Will have to hope for a factory version.

Definitely would be in for a couple of these! VG-10 steel, and black handles would be okay with me FWIW. ;)

I like the thickness of the proto vs the too thin Delica FFG myself. Willing to wait!

I will be buying one (probably two). Not just because I think wharnies are rad (they really are), not just to support Sal and co., but because I want to be, in some small way, a part of this story and community. I'm sure I'm being overly sentimental and corny but it's feels good to support a company that supports me.

A Delica Jazz in VG 10 and an FRN black handle is cool w/ me as I want one sooner rather than later.

I just finished reading the whole thread about this knife over on the Spyderco.com forum, and I have to say that I am floored that Sal and company took the concept that Jazz had, and ran with it. Sign me up for one. I really like goldenrod/mustard color that has been suggested as well, and I'm crossing my fingers that this one ends up as the 'Spyderco Jazz'.

Hats off to Sal and Jazz for working to make this concept into a reality.
