I’ll give ya the points. I’ll have to get a photo of a lapping plate. Mine has grooves for slurry to run away in.

Was I wrong? I do have a "lapping plate" that is just like the one I posted but only 200 grit diamond and a bit heavier. At the least I bought it to surface old stones and it works beautifully.

I doubt you are wrong. Some of them are flat with no grooves, Ray. But generally a “lapping plate” is around 60 microns.

This is a more accurate color of the background then the first one. The knife has lost its brightness but in the first one, the background was too washed out.
At least, on my screen. I think these can be very difficult to guess. No, it's not a 600 grit sanding block.
