Off Topic What’s this knife/sheath sitting on?

Ooops,
I thought I posted this before I went to sleep, but anyway.

Nope not a cooler.
Nope, not boat deck etc. though you might find one of these on a boat.

I got faked out by the surface texture - thought for sure it was a plastic. Couldn't see it as metal so I nixed the GRILL as an option. Oh well. :(

The edge of the grill logo gave it away as a Weber.

We got a WINNAH!

I knew that grill picture was going to be the GAW.

It is interesting how a wrong guess can be a good clue.

Sharp & Fiery Sharp & Fiery - definitely algae (I don't think any of this is moss) on a substrate but not a brass bell.

B beeinak - I agree, a really lovely pattern. Mother Nature dun good!

2 substrates showing, otherwise the photo would have been too cropped. One attached to the other.

Thanks for playing.

I'm leaning towards a stone wheel, the center darker area being the hub.

Looks like lichens on the surface, a symbiotic combination of algae and fungus...

I must admit Wild Willie Wild Willie that I'm often flummoxed by that distinction. I think of lichen as having a leafy structure even if the leaf is almost imperceptible. This may very well be lichen though it is what I think of as algae. What do I know - I flunked biology :( :)

Anyway this really low tight growth of multi colors is on every rock along my walkway that I laid in place 30+ years ago.

AND - not a stone wheel but circular and with a center protrusion.
