What’s your max?

Iv'e owned customs from Mayo to Martin(RJ) and to many more to remember, paid up to 1600.00 for a custom but could not justify carrying something that expensive so I sold them all and currently buy mostly high end production knives.
So now the most I'll spend is 200.00 but generally stay in the 75.00-150.00 range.

My maximum knife budget is determined by my current financial reality...

I can't help but think "could the money be better spent elsewhere".
Especially when one is in dept, as I am.
Student loans, credit cards, car payments, impoverished brothers and sisters, etc...

If you have 1000 bucks on a credit card, with 20% interest, then why in the heck would you spend 1000 bucks on a knife?

Of course humans are contrary creatures...I have friends who have had teeth removed because they couldn't afford a root canal and crown, yet they have over 2000 dollars in tattoos....

So pretty much everyone here has a stash of guns?!
Wow.

Mind you my archery kit cost me about $1500.

Right now, my max would be around $200. However, I also understand why people go much higher when I look at my other interests. I'd be hard pressed to admit how much I've spent on a fishing rod when a $10 rod from walmart can catch a fish.

Me personally, I could never spend a substantial amount of money on something I don't use. I understand the allure of why some people collect "safe queens", but that's not for me.....So for the people who spend $400+ on a knife and carry/use it, THAT I get. It's with you every day, and if budget permits I say absolutely.

Up around $2k is the most i have spent. Prefer to keep it under $1K

My wife thinks it’s around $200. :)

Man, a bunch of guys are gonna get some good deals on knives after I’m gone.

LOL Antdog....
Mine says she is going to donate them to Goodwill. Make sure y'all check the Goodwill stores in Cle/Mentor area are when I pass on.

My MTB spending went a bit bonkers when I was riding and racing a lot.
I made sure each replacement looked similar to the last.
And just for BF approval, it has a very nicely made steel frame. ;)

So far, $375. That was for a used $650 knife (Medford Praetorian Genesis T). New, my max to date is $275 (Microtech Socom Elite).

Most of the time I'm in the $100-$150 range, but I enjoy knives outside that range as well. Like a lot of us, I suspect, price points that seemed astronomical to me ("That costs how much?!") when I first got really into knives have been steadily exceeded over the years. ;)

Are black powder guns considered "guns" in the UK? In the US they are not from a legal point of view.

I don’t know for sure but if it’s gun shaped but doesn’t have Nerf written on it, you need a license.

Airguns up to 12lbs-ft (rifle, 6 for pistol) is about all you can have without one. Or BB guns.

With a license you can get a lot more but still heavily restricted. And definitely no AR type weapons.

But this is the weird thing; my 320fps compound bow (which would kill a bear with the right arrow heads); no restrictions at all. Same with crossbows.

But I’ve shot thousands of rounds from various guns courtesy of the British Army so I pretty much got the gun thing out of my system years ago.

So far the max I have spent is $75 and I certainly have no plans of breaking $100.
:) When I was growing up , $100 bill was a respectable amount of money . Maybe like a $1000 today .

So , while $100 is not a hard limit for me , but IS a definite emotional / psychological barrier .

I've got to have a very special reason to exceed $100 , and usually haven't felt the need .

 I did just recently splurge on a BNIB Cold Steel AD-10 for 69 cents over the line !

;) Yeah ! She said if I care about my knives , stay alive ...cause they're all a goin' to the Goodwill ! o_O

To me knifes, guns and watches are tools and are to be used. General guideline for a carry knife is what I make in a hour. So If I loose it, it would cost me, in theory only an hour of work to replace it.

Watches should cost two hours of work. Guns are at a week’s pay.

So when I was making $15/hour, I carried a Kershaw, wore a Casio and had a Charter Arms .38. Now as a professional and making more, Knives have Ti and CF, watches are Swiss, guns are German , but still the same guidelines.

$600. Is my limit. I used to think paying 400 for a knife was insane, but after having a few in the 400 to 500 range, I've increased my limit to 600.

I've spent $850 before on one knife. It was a beautiful custom Damascus from a local maker. Ended up really regretting the purchase because I didn't want to use it and it was obviously a safe queen. I use all my knives, and this one really made me regret the purchase so I sold it.

Now my sweet spot is in the $200-$250 range. I will splurge occasionally and buy a sebenza or some sprint run with a different steel of something, but that depends on my mood. For the most part though, I buy knives and use them in that $200ish range.
