What 2 Makers Would You Like To See Do A Collaboration ?

None.

As I learned in college and at work, "collaboration" (or group think) always results in an inferior result or product.
That’s really interesting. I have to say I disagree, but I suspect it’s more about HOW a collaboration happens, and it’s my suspicion that whatever you were doing at work and college was forced, perhaps to a varying degree. Nearly every collaboration I’ve done has resulted in a finished knife which blurred where one maker’s work began where the other’s ended, seamlessly. I think the major disparity between your experiences and mine is the desire to work on the collaboration. I’ve never done it because I HAD to, nor did they. It was usually something that started in casual discussion that picked up speed and energy quickly.

Again, I’m sure it just has more to do with HOW it happens than anything else. Just my thoughts...

Matthew Gregory Matthew Gregory and @Lorien Arnold could brother up to make radical and beautiful.

You know, we tried that early on, but I don’t think either of us were truly ready for it. I suppose I should speak for myself and say that I wasn’t, as my head wasn’t in the right place at that moment, and maybe I should bear the weight of that lack of synergy.

Ok this may seem like it's coming out of left field, but Brian Tighe and Tashi Bharucha.

KILLER

Or a knife exchange option. Maker #1 gives Maker #2 one or more of theirs: 'How would you change it? What would you add or subtract? Why?'

Music artist makes an okay or lesser known song. Another artist comes along and does a 'cover song' and it becomes a hit, sorta vibe.

Sticking with 'Duets':
1. Hinderer & Spartan.
2. CRK & Spartan.
3. Medford & Microtech.

I really don't have a dog in this fight.

However, if I sorted through the large fixies that I've been using (*and beating-on) for the better part of the last decade, I would have to say that my collab would be a "Trifecta"...

Leo Espinoza, Jerry Busse, and Nathan Carothers. 🤷‍♂️

Josh of REK Knives REK Knives and Nathan Carothers @Nathan the Machinist .
I bet them two fellas could come up with something fun and sharp.
ETA: Dare I mention a folder? It gives me the vapors just to think of it. LOL.
+1. Both are great I just don't have personal experience with Nate's work but I absolutely admire what Josh can do ( REK Knives REK Knives ).
The blade I posted in the other thread was grinded by him before his business took off,
what is not visible right away is that this is chisel grind, some zero point measurement, just don't remember it from the top of my head.
He does exceptional work on regrinds !

None.

I appreciate and want to cultivate the individual creativity of each artist (knife maker) and any "collaboration" would be a compromise which S*CKS as far as creativity goes.

On the other hand, I think that cooperation and collaboration are essential in politics but we're not getting much of that these days. :(
Small groups operate very differently than what you are describing. Many innovations, radical new companies, etc were started by 2-4 people. More people means you are not limited to the ideas of only one person and other people can pick up the slack where others can’t help. But not so many that there are inefficiencies and “committee” atmosphere.

Chris Reeve Knives & Rick Hinderer Knives would be a cool collab

Also Chris Reeve Knives & Oz Machine Company
I don't think CRK will be interested in flippers.

Unfortunately this will never happen...
Getting shot 9 times by the police cannot be a good way to go. C'est la vie, 27 years old, play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

RIP Elijah, your designs were a bit crazy, just like you. But I like my Civivi McKenna.

Oohhhhhhhh, Reeve and Oz!!!! Although with Bill Koenig being friends with Tim and being located nearny, I wonder how long until Reeve and Koenig make something happen.
