Here are some of my wood-handled knives whose pile sides look better to me than the mark sides do. In each case, the grain fascinates me for some reason.

I carry and use the heck out of it. Other than some scratches on the end cap it still looks the same :)

That's a looker alright. That jigging is great too. What good is a knife if you're not using it.

That one is really interesting. I keep seeing patterns in it, like looking at clouds. :)

Stag is strongly represented in this thread and that's to be expected as it has great variance.

Horn has its moments too though :D

Here's the Pile side of a Wright Lambfoot, it's a beautiful bluish grey whirl and stripes, whereas the Mark side is fairly plain black Buffalo.
