What are some features on a knife that tun you off?

What is their function? Nets and Bowels and intimidation... Not particularly useful.

FWIW
Stag or bone handle material - for natural, I prefer wood
Serrations - I only use serrations to slice bread or tomatoes
American "tanto" blades
Funky-shaped/fantasy style blades
Damascus (blasphemy, I know, but I just don't like the way it looks)

I'm not a big fan of serrations to begin with, but I really hate the ones that cannot be sharpened. Lots of el cheapo garbage has tiny serrations that are too fine to sharpen. Cutco uses triangular serrations that can't easily be sharpened either. Lame

I agree with RF about shallow grinds. It bothers me when people just grind a crappy little edge onto a flat piece of steel and call it a knife.

Tanto blade
combo edges
big choil or ricasso
non-locking folders
liner lock (with a few exceptions)
thumb stud opener (I like blade holes)
fantasy knives
synthetic scales without steel liners, or w/ just one-- yes, Spyderco I mean you!
giant shiny pocket clips or clips that leave half the knife visible
false edges
poor handle/blade ratio-- yes, Emerson, I mean you!
evil mall ninja names (Officer, I know it says Disembowler on the blade but I was just using it to open this package.)

not really an irritating knife feature as requested, but I simply don't like the word "sheeple"... I have the impression that I am in the minority here

Pocket clips with a laser cut out of the company name/logo
recurves
right hand only clips
bead blasted finish
nylon washers
aluminum handles
steel handles
sandpaper inserts
serrations

My biggest complaint with any folder is if it is uncomfortable to pocket. One should be able to reach his hand into his knife pocket without scratching his skin off on a thumbstud or sharp corner , or pocket clip.

I am also darn sick and tired and bored of beadblasting !@!@@! :D
My word , every knife and its brother is freakin beadblasted these days.

- tanto blades
- teflon (oxide, epoxy, etc.) black finish that is not wear resistant espessially on
expensive knives
- steel handles (or alluminium with bad grip)
- too aggressively textured G-10 handles (of other parts like CRKT M16 thumb stud) which rip cloth when knife is clipped
- luck of knurling on the hadle and/or blade back

P.S. what is so bad about linerlocks?

Kraton (any kind of rubber really),
Metal handles,
Assisted openers,
Sawbacks,
guthooks,
Tantos,
serrrations,
partial or rat tangs,
Mirror polishes:barf:,
Chisel grinds,
Liner locks,
Super thick or thin blades.

Why don't you like the word? Don't like the way it rolls off the tongue? The meaning? Because you are one? Just curious!

I would be willing that a good amount of people use the word for people who dislike knives or do not see their usefulness. However, I bet many of them would fall under the much broader meaning. But I digress...

I do not like:

Tanto blades
Serrations
Many linerlocks; needs to be quite robust for consideration
Fantasy knives
Hard to sharpen blade shapes
Tactical knives; A nice framelock with G10 is fine
Kerambits
Thick handles
Overly heavy folders
Black blades
Short blade relative to handle

Serrations
Gut Hooks
Fantasy knives
Promotional Knives
Knife tools w/toothpicks
knives with 420 J2 Steel

Whoa......I can tell my folders would not be welcome in many of the poster's homes! be that as it may, I do not like: chisel grinds, pocket clips that are mounted too low on the handle, mirror polish finish, thin liners, and no liners. Outside of that I'll at least take a look at it.

Most tacticals (They remind me of something the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would have)
cheap sheaths
flimsy clips
weak springs

As far as the word "sheeple"... I don't use it, I don't like it. I also think it's use here should be discouraged. On a couple of adult firearm sites I belong to it's use is not tolerated at all. It is a derogatory term the same as many racial slurs are and I feel falls into the same category as the infamous "n" word. It's use shows immaturity and a lack of judgment in my opinion.

1.) Splinter picker thin tips - I am going to pry.
2.) Bright and shiny
3.) Thin and slippery handles - gotta be able to hold onto it in order to cut.
4.) Chisel grinds
5.) Serations ( and I recognize they do have their uses - just not much use for me personally)
6.) Bright shiny clips
7.) Bright shiny clips with pointed ends on 'em ( really don't understand thiese at all?)
8.) Clips that leave a inch or 2 of handle sticking out of your pocket.( Thank God for STR)

Tacticals
Serrations
Brightly colored handles

Remember, You are unique....just like everyone else.

^ (brightly colored handles)

even on a dedicated rescue or marine use knife? i would think bright handles would be a benefit

they cut wicked fuzz sticks in the woods (the wood feeds into the curve nicely) witrh little effort, cut very quickly thru fabric, harnesses, rope, drywall, room dividers (think rescue situations), cut thru boxes quickly, cuts donnaconda board with no mess, makes quick wqrk of cutting wood tent pegs and poles to jam into the ground, nets, rope, and yes even defense.

love mine, got it after my khukuri

Combo edges
tiny folders
chisel grinds
and last but not least SINGLE THUMBSTUDS.........this bugs me alot. It just looks so cheap and crappy to me w/ only one.
