What are the 'must have' SAKs?

Back in the good old days packages were wrapped with string. They put a hook on there so postman could grab the string with the hook and carry the package that way.

Holding a SAK is much more comfortable than holding a string.

By the way, I'm 23. ;)

It is also useful for grabing hot pot handles
 
In my opinion, the three must haves are a Ranger, ALOX Farmer, and an original 6 bladed minichamp:)
 
explorer-i have used the magnifying glass to light a fire.
my first ever knife was a alox two bladed vic-we all had one at school. in the good old days.
 
I think the Farmer is gernerally the most usefull SAk outthere.

I really like the Camper for it's size as you can use it as a EDC and just forget about it, but given the choice actually going out and only using a SAK I'd go with the farmer every time.
 
I'm going to throw in another vote for the Farmer. For me, it has the perfect compromise between functions and compactness.

One Hand Trekker or New Soldier or Rescue Tool
 
I can't believe no one has mentioned the Explorer. The phillips screwdriver that comes out like the main blade is so much more useful than the puny saw blade on the huntsman for daily tasks.

These get my vote. Rambler is the perfect EDC keychain knife, and the Huntsman has everything you'd need for hiking, camping, and fixing stuff away from the house.

edit: just realized this is an old thread that got bumped weeks later that I already posted in. At least my opinions are consistent it seems.

Yes...definitely the Explorer. That and a Mini Champ or Rambler make a perfect pair in my opinion.

I keep a midnight Mini-champ on my keyring and it comes in handy more often than my EDC. I used to carry a Cybertool 41 with me everywhere when I was working on PCs a lot (and all my friends/family wanted me to work on theirs) but it was probably over-kill for "must have".

For those of you interested in a Farmer with scissors, maybe go post in this thread with your interest. Swiss Bianco will be meeting with Victorinox next week and one of the topics of discussion will be a limited run of Farmers with scissors. Up til now they've never agreed to making them but maybe with more visible interest we can make it happen.

I'll be picking up a hiker soon, too for dayhikes. I EDC a Tinker Deluxe and keep a Tinker in each vehicle. My wife has a Rambler on her keychain and I have a Classic in my survival kit.
 
have an alox farmer,money clip alox,climber(black scales),tourist(black scales also),sentinel one hand(straight edge),forester red scales,and used to have(give it to my dad...)solo.

the solo(with red plastic scales) its outstanding,i love it,gonna buy another one on next week,maybe two.....,give it a try,won´t be dissappointed
