What are you watching & why? (splain)

I also just watched "Judgment in Nuremberg" (1961) again for the 1st time in many years.

A Stanley Kramer directed movie starring, Spencer Tracy, Maximillian Shell, Burt Lancaster, Montomery Cliff, Marlena Dietrich, & Judy Garland.

It isn't about the trial of Nazi war criminals themselves but is about the trial 4 of judges who supported the system that led to the deaths of millions, made 16 yrs after the end of WWII in Europe with the perspective of time that that provided.

The monologues of Tracy and Lancaster are particularly moving.

Of note is that fact that these trials took place long after the end of the war and that political pressure was being put on the American judges in charge of the tribunal to let the German judges go w/a slap on the wrist because of the need for the cooperation of the Germans in reconstruction.

The decision to sentence the judges to life in prison for their crimes was unpopular and, according to the announcement at the end of the movie, all of the judges were released not long after the trial.

Love this movie particularly for Robin Williams' sensitive portrayal of the therapist and because of Matt Damon's breakthru performance as the insecure & confused math "genius." Neither of them get enough credit for their acting skills.

Also loved Williams in "Dead Poets Society" and Damon in "The Martian" and in the Bourne series.

Season 3 episode 3 of the mandalorian

I think this show is the only reason I still have Disney +

Moon knight had so much potential but they didn't do it right in my opinion

But still enjoying this

Espisode Three was WEIRD!!! Like right in the middle of the episode, we were transported to something out of Andor, with no apparent preview or explanation, with a bunch of characters who don't seem to me to have much to do with The Mandalorian, or Grogu . . . And then suddenly, we were back with the Mandalorian, and Grogu, and Bo-Katan . . . . WTH?

Also, are we supposed to just forget about the Droid IG-11 for which he was tryng to find the part to get repaired back in Episode 1? Or did I just miss something?

I completely agree!

It will all come back together. The segment on Coruscant is setting the stage for a big character reveal that....we have only seen in the animated series so far. And deepening the story of the Empire's cloning experiments.

Sad to say I constantly get lost in the time line with mandalorian

Are we talking snoke and maybe Palpatine, first order?

(Oh snap thinking back thinking back when grogu was taken I remember the scene with the the tanks)

Mando takes place in the time after Return of the Jedi and before The Force Awakens, so pre-Snoke/First Order. The Empire has fallen, but there are still factions of Empire sympathizers stirring up shit with the likes of Moff Gideon, etc.

This is helpful:

I've only seen the movies (except the Solo movie that I couldn't bring myself to watch), and the Mandalorian, Boba Fett, and Andor series (couldn't finish the Obi Wan series).

I guess I'm not a big enough of Star Wars nerd to get into the various "canonical" books, animated series, comics, etc.

Unlike these folks . . .

It's probably difficult to write this stuff for such a widely varying audience from more casual viewers like me, to the folks with Boba Fett models in the Command Center in their mother's basement . . .

All I know is that The Mandalorian series occur between Episode 6 and Episode 7 in the movies. FWIW.

I will say, though, that much more appreciation for the Mandalorian history and culture, and what's presently going on with Din, Bo-Katan, etc. can be had if you're familiar with what has been covered in the animated series.
