What are you watching & why? (splain)

Im currently watching this as it gives me a better,,,View of reality

Donnie's only the boogeyman post 2016? Red pilled the world on MSM, gotta give him that ;)

I just got done watching The Remains of the Day. Great movie that I've watched several times. Younger Emma Thomspon was a hottie.

I am watching the SyFy channel show called The Ark.

It is so bad, the acting and dialogue are awful and watching the show is pretty irritating.

I don’t know why I have not stopped, but a few more episodes and I will finish season 1.

One of the worst shows I have seen in a while. I have grown to hate some of the actors and their ridiculous performances. Just bad. You have been warned.

So, I have watched 2 new series, films which I would like to recommend:

1- Wyatt Earp and the Cowboy War on Netflix

2- Horizon, an American saga chapter 1 on MAX

First of, I am not a native therefore not as well versed in the history and stories on the Wild Western territories before they gained State status as a part of the 50. Although I had some general knowledge of Wyatt Earp and the gunfight at the O.K Corral, I am not as steeped as some of you puritans and historian types, so a bit of Hollywood "magic" may tantalize me more than those who are stickler for the nuances and factual facts ;)

I learned more about this version of the O.K Corral gunfight than the ones which I had seen in movies like Wyatt Earp and the Tombstone. This one is one of those new style documentary / movie hybrids so depending on your individual tastes, some historical or scholar jumping in to express opinion mid movie may or may not be to everyone's taste. I liked it and I recommend it with the caveat which I have stated above!

Now onto Horizon. OK, it's a Costner flick and production and he can churn out both masterpieces and also turds! I kept reading that people were walking out mid movie and the reviews, specially critical reviews, were not so good to put it mildly thus this piqued my interest as soon as it became available on MAX. I don't know if Costner will be able to secure the financing to complete all 4 chapters as the first chapter was so poorly received (only 11 millions in box office receipts in the opening weekend or the first week of?) but supposedly # 1 & # 2 are done, with # 1 being a tad over 3 hours already! Without getting too much into the details in this paragraph, if I was a bit younger I would have liked to see this movie in an IMAX theater with an awesome sound system as opposed to streaming it at home. The sceneries are really grand and majestic, the cinematography is also top notch. I think that Costner and his team have always been great behind the camera in this kind of genre irrespective of their finished products.

The movie itself can be confusing because it is portraying 3 different stories, not all starting at once, but one segueing into another without any prelude or set up and then they interchange. Also the first chapter does not really have an ending as the end of this movie just seems to segue to scenes which are presumably coming in the next chapter(s) ala trailers for the next ones, if you will. So yeah, 3 hours+ plus a bit of convoluted story telling combined with some intense scenes of violence and gore can and will perturb the modern sensitive and "woke" crowd I suppose 🤔

All in all, I liked it very much and am looking forward to the next chapters to see how these different story arcs develop and interconnect. I suppose that if this project was done as a 12-16 part series over 1 or 2 seasons for the TV screens, it would have probably had a different more upwardly reaction, but then again I still think that watching it in the theaters can and will be a better experience for its fans, although I will just stick with it on me ol' telly

Watched Mad Max: Furiosa

It was just OK. They really overused the sped up footage, to the point where even people walking around, were sped up.

Yes, I also watched Furiosa and totally concur. It was entertaining enough but not one that I would go back to at some later point to re-watch which is basically how I would like to present my list of recommended (I have watched both 1 & 2 of the original MM copies number of times). Another one which I had watched in the past but then saw it added to Netflix just recently (previously an AMC+ series on HULU) which I may have mentioned here in the past, would be The Terror. A great BBC production anthology with loads of great Brit actors whom most of us will recognize right away.

I never thought Lucy was attractive until I saw her later in life on an episode of curb your enthusiasm. Something about her makeup in that show just didn't hit for my young self ;) That ginger on the left reminds me of some karate ginger chick that was in a bunch of weird 90s movies too.
You can remedy that by watching Spartacus. Lawless looks great on that show.

Apple has a new show called Bad Monkey, starring Vince Vaughn and it is very good, funny and also good story telling with a complex plot, and lots of character development for people who like that stuff.

Even the narrator is really good, filling in the plot once in a while or setting the scene like in Dukes of Hazzard or The Fall Guy TV shows. Anyway, first four episodes are excellent and Vince Vaughn and the other actors all do a strong job, especially the voodoo queen.

Double bill. Airplane followed by The Naked Gun
