What are you watching & why? (splain)

So episode 4 has the Texas Chainsaw Massacre/Leatherface tie-in, which started out good, but wasn't crazy about how they took elements of Leatherface's behaviour and assigned them to Gein. Makes you think Tobe Hooper just copied Gein to create the character, instead of being inspired by him, basically taking credit away from Hooper for his creativity. If he was still alive I'd bet he'd be pissed.

Couple episodes into the 5th season of "Slow Horses." So far, it's not grabbing me the way past seasons have, but hoping it will pick up.
Completely agree. As much as I'm a huge Oldman fan and a fan of the show, this season has dragged for the most part. The 5th episode started to get the ball rolling for the final episode coming this Wednesday.

Oddly enough, I read a few of the books the series is based upon and my interest in the novels waned after about the third one. (I like the series better, though Herron is a good wordsmith...he just got too repetitive.)

Yeah, it almost feels like this season has different writers. And I'm getting a lot more 'political correctness' vibes so far in this season, than past seasons that just focused on sharp dialogue and intrigue, with some savage humor thrown in. But that seems to be the case with a lot of entertainment coming out of the UK these days - lots of social programming undertones.

Agree that the UK tends to be a bit more prone in that direction with their shows, I've also found that to be the case with several shows on Apple TV.
So, where we've enjoyed a handful of their offerings, we have to cherry pick from the menu to avoid being hit over the head with too much wokeism which usually rears its head at some point.

I'd be happy with a simple and honest level playing field, instead of being bashed on the head with the not so subtle messages. My wife feels the same way about it.

Ok, finished S5 of 'Slow Horses.' What a disappointment. The gun handling has always been atrocious on this show, as it is in just about every British show I've seen, but I could overlook it when the writing was funny and smart and not trying to bash me over the head with woke social programming. If it wasn't for Gary Oldman, it would have been a complete pile of steaming :poop:.
